Reiki Level 1 Training in Gujarati!

Lotus Healing Seva Group (Kenya) was privileged to conduct a Reiki level 1 Training camp in Gujarati! This was a first for us!

I was approached by Prafulla Ganatra, of the Lohana Gujarati community in Nairobi, to train the elderly in her community in Reiki. These beautiful people were aged 65 and above, many of them being in their 70’s and eighties!

The training was spread over two Wednesdays, 2.5 hours each day. This period coincided with the Hindu Shraad period, when our ancestors dimension is closest to our Earth Dimension, and we can do charitable and seva work in their honour, as well as receive their blessings!

It was such a pleasure teaching these men and women who were 26 in number.

Eagerness showed in their faces even as they walked into the hall and took their seats.

One of the ladies had cancelled her travel plans so she could attend the workshop!

They did the Aum and the Gurur Mantra and joined us in our prayers.

They sat in pure meditative poses throughout the attunement.

We knew we had a dedicated group. . Their hands were boiling hot as they healed themselves!

Though some could not reach their back chakras, they did the best they could.

They received the gift of Reiki in total trust and humility!

Of special mention is Lois, who was the helper of one of the elderly ladies in a wheel chair. She didn’t understand Gujarati, but received the attunement willingly, followed the chakra positions, and did the self-healing very satisfactorily.

How much more blessed could one be. . Giving in this period of Shraad to the elderly. . . .

We have surely been blessed by our ancestors.

LHSG Founder member Monica Gokaldas and LHSG member Cooky Vora joined me in this seva. We were also joined by Reiki healers Prafulla Ganatra and Laxmi Vellani.

Our special thanks to the Lohana Community Chairman Bharatbhai Thakrar and the entire Lohana Committee for allowing us to impart the Reiki training to their senior members, and to allow us the use of their hall. And our gratitude to Prafulla Ganatra for making the people interested in Reiki, and for organizing everything.

Monica’s account is next, followed by the slide show and video.

Thank you for your support.

We had a very fulfilling morning teaching Reiki level 1 to 28 elderly people. Unfortunately we had to turn away some people as they came in much later.

It was such a pleasure teaching these elderly as they are so in tune with the spiritual energies. They seemed mesmerized during attunement and some of them despite their age, didn’t fidget even a little bit. They didn’t have doubts or questions and were in total acceptance of what was being taught.

Kamal conducted the teaching in Gujarati and though she doubted her perfection at that, they all gave her full marks for her Gujarati. Prafulla also added her bits to the teaching and it was amazing to see both Prafulla Ganatra and Laxmi Vellani do it all so well despite volunteering at a camp after many years.

My gratitude for the opportunity to do this seva for the aged during our Hindu Pitru Paksh (fortnight in reverence towards our ancestors). It felt like we were (Prafulla, Laxmi, Kamal, Cooky and myself) offering our love and gratitude to our ancestors by sharing our love with these elderly people of our society.

One Response to Reiki Level 1 Training in Gujarati!

  1. Monica Gokaldas says:

    A Gratitude to the ancestors
In a way so very LHSG type
    By empowering the elderly
    enabling them to self heal
    Serving them felt really good
All of them our mums and dads
For a day we got so many parents
That we miss, we saw in them
    Their angelic charm so welcome
    Such peaceful people rarely seen
As we witnessed at Vraj Ganga of Lohana
A big gratitude to dear Prafulla.
