Just behind Mukuru Kenya Outreach Academy, the School that LHSG has been supporting, lies riparian land, through which the Ngong river passes. During the recent excessive flooding, the slum dwellers in this area had to relocate permanently. The place looked deserted, sad and uninteresting …… but not for long! For the Head teacher Enock Nyanyanga and the Deputy head teacher Vincent Muema came up with the suggestion that we plant trees there.

So we all went into action …… Lotus Healing Seva Group International members sponsored 150 trees, and our Mukuru LHS(Y)G children very excitedly planted them all on 20^th September! LHSG member Jashu Shah and I helped the children plant 3 trees in the school compound. All done the LHSG Reiki way, including asking forgiveness from Mother Earth and chanting our Hindu Mantras.

The trees planted were Wambugia, Bishops Wood, Australia Flame, Jacaranda, Thika Palm, Nandi Flame, Aloe Africana, Alcalia, Macamia, Mutundu, Mutukuyu.

The children have continued with the after care, watering with Reiki blessed water, and blessing the trees with Reiki, and chanting the mantras.

A gratitude and giving back celebration …..

Thirty eight LHSG members from around the world from USA to India + LHSG India member Vikram, the Hindu Refugee teacher + 65 LHSG Youth Group Hindu Refugee children in Delhi, India, + LHSG Mukuru, Kenya members Enock Nyanyanga, Vincent Muema + 9 teachers + 93 LHSG Youth Group children of Mukuru Outreach Kenya Academy, Nairobi … all met on google.meet platform on 16th August 2024, to celebrate the birth of our Reiki Master Usui, the founder of Reiki. We call him our ‘Param Guru’ in our Hindu culture!

We sent Reiki to various situations and events in the world, to our Reiki boxes of intentions, set up sacred spaces around each member, blessed the five elements and Mother Earth, asked for forgiveness and forgave …. And …. Reiki blessed our bottles of water with positive wishes, after which we visualized pouring the water over our country and the whole world …

It was also a meeting of gratitude and a giving back celebration ….. I spoke about the 5 Rinns (debts) in Hinduism: 1. Dev Rinn (Debt to God) 2. Pitra Rinn (Debt to your parents and ancestors) 3. Rishi Rinn (Debt to the teachers and Gurus) 4. Nri or Manushya Rinn           (Debt to fellow human beings) 5. Bhuta Rinn (Debt to the flora and fauna, the ecosystem, plants, animals, the 5 elements, Mother Earth)

This was followed by an interactive session of examples of how we can repay these debts. And we realized that, first of all, we must be grateful to and love all the above, because without them, we would not come into existence and continue to exist … which brought us right back to Master Usuis 1^st and 5^th Prinicple:

Today and every day, I must be grateful  … and … Today and every day, I must show love and respect for every living thing / being.
