LHSG breaks ground in Thika!

The new year 2019 brought new opportunities for Lotus Healing Group. We were asked to train young children in Std 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Dada’s Primary School in Thika, by the school’s Director Geneveva Shichehi Shivalu.

Seeing that the number of children would be close to 200, we decided it would be wiser to teach them in their own classrooms, rather than in the courtyard as one group.

And so it is that LHSG Sevaks Monica Gokaldas, Punita Acharya, Mamta Advani, Shalini Srivastava, Laveena Keswani, Pratima Dutt, Cooky Vora, Bhavna Baga, Shariffa Keshavjee, Neena Sehgal and Nalina Rupani and I, Kamal Tolia set out in the morning of 31st January for Thika.

We arrived there by 10.30 and immediately set about teaching. Monica, Punita, Mamta and I each took a class, and assisted by the other sevaks, took the children through the history of Reiki, the chakra positions, the attunement and then self -healing. Lunch followed (which had been sponsored by LHSG), after which they did partner healing for each other.

We ended the session by giving them milk and biscuits, which they loved!

This was our first Reiki camp of this year, in which we trained 190 children and teachers to Reiki Level 1. They were all quick learners, and they loved the new found energy and promised to heal themselves every day and heal their family members, neighbours, etc.

LHSG gives its gratitude to the Chairlady and Director Geneveva Shichehi Shivalu, who made this training possible. She was involved in every stage of the planning leading to a very successful Reiki camp. We would also like to give our gratitude to Mr. Nitin Shah, who is the main donor for the school and who kindly gave us permission to conduct the Reiki training there.

The experience was very fulfilling as we ventured into this new area of teaching various groups in different classrooms. I had wondered if I can reach out to about 50 children at a given time but as it turned out- 65 students in my class and I didn’t blink an eye about it. The students though quite young were excellent learners and good healers too. Looking at their humble means I felt very proud of them as I felt it was a learning for me, the way they were so positive. I felt they were very cramped being four of them on each desk but they said they were fine that way. I salute the spirit and positive outlook to life these children and their teachers display. My gratitude for this seva opportunity.

The Cow demands Reiki

Introduction:

The Cow being a sacred worship worthy animal, feeding the cows is a ritual in many Hindu families.  More so after the death of a family member The Male member who takes over the responsibilities of cremation and other rites is supposed to feed the cows every morning with a meal before he and the rest of the family members consume anything.

The Feeding:

I recently accompanied few family members to a cowshed (Called Gaushala) in the outskirts of Dubai following the death of a close relative. This Gaushala run by a Sindhi Hindu family is a home to nearly 150 cows. While my brothers fed the offering food to some of the Cows I took the opportunity to feed them the bananas I had carried along for them. Whilst feeding I came close to three aged cows.

The Seva:

On close observation I noticed that their hoofs were huge and heavy. Something inside me told me to give them Reiki and I just started off. My hands were turning hot as fire as the cows wouldn’t stop taking the healing. Even as I gave the Reiki, I realized one of the three cows needed more healing than the others and it actually moved out and stood right in front of me. I thought that’s her way of asking for Reiki to be directed at her. My cousins either moved away to let me focus or stood along silently as I didn’t hear anyone talking.

I knew I was directed to visit this Gaushala by a Reiki Force and must help the cows. But, I wanted to know what was bothering this particular cow and in my mind I silently put up a question asking her about her problem. No sooner had I done that, than the cow lifted up its hind right leg and put it down. She did that once again and I knew that the leg was in pain. So I continued for some more time as this teary eyed cow kept looking at me with urging looks.

I thanked Reiki and The Almighty for giving me this opportunity in the very first week of the year 2019, for being a Hindu doing a seva for the Cows meant a lot to me. They say by serving and tending to the cows one washes away ones sins so having done what I am capable of doing I left the place feeling very peaceful and grateful.

A Reminder:

As I returned from the gaushala I sent the cow distance healing for a few days and once I returned to Nairobi I got busy at work and slipped on the reiki a bit. I forgot to send this cow reiki for two days and on the third day I got a message from a relative who wasn’t aware of my stint of healing the cow. He sent me the photo of the same cow saying that it doesn’t look well and kept looking at him with urging eyes, Hence he thought of telling me to send Reiki to this cow. I felt ashamed of myself, started sending distance healing and asked forgiveness from the cow for my careless attitude.

On Monday 17th December, Sharifaji, Lata, Ketki and I were at the Dar-ul- Hafeez Home for seniors for a Reiki I camp which is run by a kind, compassionate lady called  Shanaz Kara. We had a total of 14 participants that included 5 carers. The participants were alert, engaging and receptive the whole time. Most of the participants said they felt very relaxed and peaceful during the attunement while some felt tingling sensation in their hands. The self-healing session went off well before we broke off for lunch.

Lunch was a scrumptious affair. Shanaz and her team had prepared an amazing, delicious vegetarian lunch of salad, chapati, dhall, potato curry, eggplant curry and rice and topping it with ice cream for dessert….. we were spoilt!

Then the partner healing session was again done well. They felt happy and very empowered to be able to give healing to another. There were two seniors who were happy to receive healing from their partners but when it came time for them to give healing, the lady felt with her fractured (but healed now) arm and weak leg of her right side, she won’t be able to stand as did the gentleman who wasn’t very strong on his legs and thus could not stand much. I encouraged both of them to give healing by placing their partner’s chair in such a way so that they could easily reach their partner’s chakras. I also encouraged Irene (the lady) to just place her stronger hand as this was better than nothing. I must say, both these individuals were very willing and went ahead with my suggestions. I felt it was important for them to experience the joy of giving in any small way possible. At the end of this exercise both these individuals successfully gave Reiki healing to their partners and were very pleased indeed with their efforts. I feel they will be more confident now and encouraged them to continue in their efforts.

After clarifying a few questions and taking group pictures, we ended this beautiful camp with promises to come back soon for Reiki II.

Shanaz and her team also gave a monetary donation to LHSG for their seva activities along with their customary blessings for our future sevas.

Thank you Sharifaji, Lata and Ketki for making this camp a success. Also my gratitude to Reiki and the universe for this opportunity to serve these wonderful group of people.
