12th Anniversary Seva No. 16

St Peter’s School for the disabled and mentally challenged is a small school in the Loresho suburb of Nairobi. It caters to children of special needs from the Kangemi and Kibagara slums of Nairobi.

Lotus Healing Seva Group visited the school twice. The first visit was on 9th November. LHSG members Pratima, Dhwani, Priya, Mamta and Shalini had gone to the School. They gave Reiki to the children and to some of the staff. Even with that one session, it was amazing to see the difference in the children. The crying and wailing reduced significantly and they became visibly calmer! The videos below show this visually!

We also donated surgical gloves, liquid detergent soap and toilet rolls to the school.

The second visit was on 16th November. LHSG’s Monica has a report on it.

We have a slide show below as well and two video interviews with Ann the school administrator and Divina, a special needs teacher at the school.

Thank you for your support!

I knew there was a calling within me when I was approached by Mrs. Rekha Kochhar a few weeks ago to give mass healing to the group of disabled children whom her organization was treating to fun and games on a Sunday morning. Having missed that opportunity I felt the urge to visit the children at their school. I spoke to my guru Kamal Tolia about this and as fate would have it, she visited the school and we started off on a mission.

I went to give Reiki to these children along with Pratima and Yatinder on November 16th. Pratima was instantly recognized by some of the children as she had been there the previous week. These children most of whom are either physically challenged or autistic appeared to be a challenge initially as they wouldn’t sit still to receive the reiki. To our surprise (actually not much of a surprise) they soon became calm and allowed us to give them Reiki.

The Head of the St.Peter’s School for the Mentally Challenged and physically Disabled,  Ms Anne mentioned that with one session of Reiki they had already noticed the children to be less agitated and that she herself was much calmer. Another teacher Ms. Divine and the physiotherapist also felt very good with the healing energies and had positive experiences of becoming calmer and having enhanced hearing.

After the classroom we proceeded to the physiotherapy room where some children were lying on the mattresses. Those children though could not communicate in a formal manner but appeared to like the Reiki energy. One little boy I gave reiki to fell asleep as I continued and another one was simply very happy to hold on to my badge while receiving healing.

This experience was very moving and from my heart I asked forgiveness from these children for the suffering they are undergoing. I felt as if I was being blessed by these pure souls and that they had done a favor to me by allowing me to touch them through Reiki. I am full of gratitude for opportunity and hope to continue visiting the school.

12th Anniversary Seva No. 15

Asking for forgiveness from Mother Earth, blessing her with Reiki, going down on our knees, working with our bare hands, collecting the soil around the sapling, patting the soil down with love and Reiki, and watering it lovingly with our hands ……. And then blessing the newly planted tree with Reiki …… getting up, moving a bit away and repeating the whole process for another little tree …….. for 155 trees ……

Lotus Healing Seva Group Kenya spent the morning of 16th November 2017 engaging in this holy task of planting trees in the Karura Forest in Nairobi. It gave us immense pleasure and satisfaction to introduce these delicate little trees called Makhamia Lutea and Croton Megalocarpus in their ‘new’ homes in the lap of Mother Earth.

After all 155 trees were planted, we gave them a final blessing with Reiki before leaving the forest. But not without taking away with us a deep knowing that we have contributed in giving back to our planet and for future generations.

The reward for this activity was a huge ‘soul high’ which stayed with us well into the next few days! And a feeling of awe and gratitude for being given this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of all who live and breathe on mother Earth!

After the tree planting, we had a light lunch at a café.

The sevaks that did this seva were, Neena, Bubbles, Mamta, Priya, Munira, Reeta, Shalini, Shariffa, Lata, Sheela, Punita, Laveena, Nalina, Veena, Dhwani, Sharanya and myself Kamal.

Please read on for what a few members have to say and please watch the videos and slide show which says it all ……

Thank you

We saw the leaves as we planted the trees.

Rita and I were awed by the roots.

So many roots were set free.

To spread out and search deep.

Into the Mother Earth for nutrients.

Then give back so unconditionally

Oxygen and shade home to so many

Little creature we seldom see.

What a miracle is a tree.

We have planted for our tomorrow.

It was a very unique  experience.  I felt a lot of peace and calmness… fresh, free and light. …… Felt a different level of connection with life.. ….. Very distant and different from the worldly one…….  Felt I was able to say sorry to mother  earth in my own small way… God Bless my partner Priya who was constantly aware and concerned about my back issue and let me rest every now and then……  so thankful to Kamalji and the whole group for this golden opportunity

It was a beautiful experience and as always felt wonderfully connected to Mother Earth. Felt a sense of bliss with the sunlight pouring in, the freshness of the forest after the rains and the wonderful scent of the leaves. Truly at such times we connect to nature and appreciate her  in so many ways. Feels good to give back whatever little we can. Gratitude for such a wonderful Seva coming our way.

12th Anniversary Seva no. 14

Continuing with our mission of empowering the poor and needy with Reiki, LHSG Kenya conducted a Reiki level 2 camp for the girls and staff of Talia Agler Girls Shelter for abused, exploited, abandoned and trafficked girls. This happened on 15th November 2017.

The centre’s manager Marion had shared with us the positive changes that had occurred with her as well as the girls at the centre after doing Reiki 1 a few months ago. This has been shared in the recording below.

Without further ado, I request you to read what Sheela who conducted this camp and Nalina, Lata and Laveena who assisted her did on this day at the centre.

As always, please watch the slide show.

On 15th November Nalina, Lata, Laveena and I were at the TAGS girls shelter to conduct Reiki level II. We arrived there by 9.35am and were happy to see Marion had kept the room ready and the girls were also ready, waiting for us. After doing registration, we started promptly.

There were 25 girls in total. 22 girls were from the group Nalina had taught Reiki I a couple of months ago and the other 3 were girls doing a refresher. The girls shared some of their experiences, like being able to heal themselves of their aches and pains and also to help their friends with their ailment with Reiki. With this positive feedback, I promised them Reiki II will empower them even more in their healing abilities.

After taking a bit of time in learning the symbols, the attunement was done. Once awake and alert, the girls expressed how refreshed and rested they felt. Also a couple of them shared how they saw colours and bright white light during the attunement.

When we started self- healing, it was wonderful to see they knew all the chakras well and the correct sequence of positioning their hands.

Then it was time for lunch. The girls enjoyed their veg biriyani lunch that was sponsored by our Lotus group.

Once again we started the second half of the session promptly. The girls were intrigued by all the various causes they could now send Reiki to. We also talked about the importance of healing the earth and how they can contribute to this cause. We suggested for them to allocate a certain day and time to do group healing for all their Reiki boxes.

The session ended well and we then took a few group pictures. We promised to be back very soon to conduct the next Reiki I session for the new comers.

My gratitude to Nalina, Lata and Laveena for their valuable support and assistance and gratitude to Kamalji for this humbling seva opportunity.

12th Anniversary Seva No. 13

There is a place in the Westlands area of Nairobi called ‘Ashram’. It is a home for elderly people, who have no other place to go in their twilight years.

Lotus Healing Seva Group, Kenya, came to know about this place from a friend Kanwaljeet Mahajan, who is also a friend of the Ashram. She asked us to visit the home to give Reiki to the residents of the place. Ever ready to spread Reiki, we took up the invitation, and within 2 weeks Mamta Advani, Monica Gokaldas and I went to the place, to familiarize ourselves with the residents and their needs, leading to us starting a weekly Reiki healing schedule starting in September for the residents, the cook, the care taker, and the house help.

As the weeks went by, they reported feeling better, calmer, lighter, sleeping better, and generally feeling very good. No surprises here! But we also came to realize that they are lonely people. They loved our company. They looked forwards to our visits every week, and chatted with us as we gave them Reiki.

So, Pratima Parihar LHSG Kenya came up with a wonderful idea of bringing some joy in their lives by making their Divali (17th October) Special. But due to certain issues in our country Kenya, and one of the residents being hospitalized, this event had to be postponed till 1st November.

The program started with LHSG’s  sevaks Pratima Dutt, Bindi Shah and I giving Reiki to the people. We then played the ‘passing the parcel’ game with them. We were not sure how this would go …. but to our happy surprise, they loved it …… you will see it from the way they participated in the videos ….. When the music stopped, the one with the cushion (parcel) in his / her hand had to sing a song / say a prayer / a joke …… They loved this part too and contributed by singing a bhajan or prayer with sincere devotion!

The next ‘game’ was trying to light as many candles as possible with one matchstick. Each one had a go … and everybody had fun counting loudly each time a candle was lit!

After that we gave them gifts … the men each received ‘a mala’ (prayer beads) and the ladies each a pack of nail polish and lipstick. They were overwhelmed with the gift and very grateful!

A nutritious Indian lunch from a restaurant which had been ordered by LHSG followed next. After serving them, we sat down at the table with them and had  the meal together

On another note, one of the residents, Mansukhbhai had been using Ho’oponopono (taught by to him by Pratima) for the last couple of months between himself and his sons. In the video below, he shares his experience (in Gujarati) of using this Hawaiian Forgiveness Techinique. Please do watch his video …. It will touch your heart as he relates what happened …. note the catch in his voice along with the joy and the accompanying tears (behind the glasses) as he relates how his son and daughter in law called him up after 2 years!

Nutan, the cook also shares her experience in Gujarati of how much positive difference Reiki has made in her life!

Our next plan is to teach all of these lovely people Reiki and to help them plant trees in their compound.

Thank you for reading this post!

Love and Light to all!
