In December 2010 and January 2011, Lotus Healing Seva Group sponsored 5 primary school children from the Ananda Marga Academy in Nairobi. The academy caters to children of families that live in the slum area of Kangemi. Many such children are orphans, or they come from families that are too poor to pay for their schooling. The sponsorship covered their fees for the academic year 2011.
Then on 17th February, the LHSG went to the academy to meet their sponsored children and to make a donation. Twenty one books each of the subjects Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Studies for the Form 4 class (the examination class) were donated, along with 140 kgs of maize meal, some slippers and some sweets.
Once again, we felt very privileged to be able to help the less fortunate members of our society.
