Reiki Sevas in India …. Program No. 6 ……Vatsalya Reiki Camps

We come now to our 6th Reiki program on 24th February 2019, that had been planned well before we left Kenya for India, at the Vatsalya Foundation, a home for Street Boys in Mumbai.

A year ago, we had taught Reiki Level 1 to about 43 boys. Out of them 24 were still in the Home, while 12 new boys aged 6 – 9 had joined.

At this stage, the sevaks were Monica Gokaldas and myself, Kamal Tolia. We were joined by Anju Kapani of LHSG Mumbai. Anju and I taught the senior boys Reiki level 2, while Monica took the littler ones to teach them Reiki Level 1.

Although the boys were in a hurry to finish the sessions, it being a Sunday and all …. We managed to impart the basics of Reiki 1 to the younger group and the deeper aspects of distant healing to the larger group. Suffice it to say, that we created more Reiki level 1 healers and more empowered Reiki level 2 healers in the world that day.

We then sat down to lunch with all the boys, which had been sponsored jointly by Anju Kapani and LHSG Kenya.

Thank you to the Managing Trustee of Vatsalya Foundation, Ms Swati Mukerjee for allowing us to teach Reiki at the Home. We look forward to more interaction in the future.

Reiki Seva in India …. Program No. 5 …. Mulund, Mumbai.

Our next Reiki Seva was a Reiki training camp for Sindhi Mothers in Mumbai, on 23rd February 2019.

Please read on for Monica Gokaldas’ account of this seva.

This seva came about due to a request from Gul Hinduja of the Indusind Foundation to help Sindhi widows in Mumbai.

On 22nd Feb Kamal and I were escorted to several houses of the Sindhi Widows in Thane by Gul Hinduja and some officials of Mahadev Mandir Trust.  These visits were eye openers as we saw the bare minimum dwellings of some of them who had meagre or no source of income. There were some houses where the house was barely one room that had a bed, kitchen, bathing area within the room. They narrated their stories to us which moved our hearts.

On 23rd Feb Kamal and I taught Reiki to 58 people at the Sahiti Bradari Hall which was organized by the Sindhi Council of India together with Indusind Foundation. Amongst the Reiki learners were about 30 widows from Thane and Mulund, the officials of the above mentioned organizations and a few other well-wishers that support these organizations with their charitable projects. The camp was partially conducted in Hindi and partially in Sindhi.

It was a pleasure to see the seriousness at learning and practicing of reiki on themselves and each other by these members of Sindhi Community. Some of them were enthusiastic to share their instant relief in aches and pains and the highlight for me was when one young gentleman who had spoken of suicidal tendencies earlier in the morning, promised to remain positive by practicing Reiki as he had felt an instant change in energies.

Towards the end Kamal and I handed out envelopes of INR 1500/- and 5kg bags of wheat flour to each widow and the remaining 20 widows were given the same later. Since we still had funds remaining from the amounts donated by well-wishers, packets of sugar and tea leaves were distributed to the 50 widows on the program at a later date on our behalf.

Our thanks go to Gul Hinduja of Indusind Foundation, without whom this seva would not have been possible. We also give our thanks to officials of Sindhi Council of India, the Mahadev Mandir Trust and The Sahiti Bradari for their warm welcome and support throughout the Reiki training camp.

Reiki Sevas in India …..  Program No. 4 ……  Ma Dham, Vrindavan

After the Reiki camp for the widows in Radha Kund, an unplanned Seva opportunity presented itself for another set of widows in a Home called Ma Dham, run by the Guild for Service.

Here we decide to give Reiki healing to the widows. But the staff of the home requested to be taught Reiki, so we split ourselves. I took the five staff members for training, while Monica Gokaldas and Anuradha Nath gave individual healing to each widow, one by one.

The enthusiasm of the learners was a joy to see! They grasped the concepts easily and soon became proficient healers. After we finished our training at 3 pm, we joined the others in healing the residents.

The newly trained staff promised to give Reiki to the widows every day!

We were explained by the manager Saritha A R that in the coming summer months, electricity is often a problem. Often, they have to go without it. They were looking for funds to buy an inverter, so they could have non-stop electricity. We therefore donated the funds for an inverter.

Our Gratitude to the Universe for giving us yet another opportunity to spread Reiki and make a difference in the lives of so many people!

Thank you to Dr. V Mohini Giri, the founder and Managing Trustee of Ma Dham, who so willingly allowed us to carry out our Reiki program at the Ashram at such short notice! Thank you to the Manager Saritha A R, and to Manjit Singh who facilitated the Reiki program at such short notice too!

Reiki Sevas in India …..  Program No. 3 ……  Surabhi Gauseva Niketan, Radhakund

Forty years ago, a German lady came to Radhakund. She saw couple of injured calves on the road, took them home and nursed them back to health.

This is the humble start of a Gaushala in Radhakund run by this compassionate German lady who goes by the name of Sudevi Dasi. She has dedicated her life to providing shelter, comfort and love to cows.

Normally, according to Hindu tradition, a gaushala is a shelter for cows that are aged and passed the milk giving stage. But this shelter called Surabhi Gauseva Niketan, houses not only these elderly cows (and bulls) but also cows that were blind, cows that have been injured, are sick, have been abused (some with acid!!), hit on the roads or simply abandoned, and yes, saved from the slaughter house. .

At the time we visited this shelter, the number of cows being housed was 1800! It was a heart rending sight to see these suffering cows, standing or sitting patiently. I looked into their uncomplaining eyes. What was going on in their heads, I wondered? Were they in acceptance of all that had happened to them and all that they were going through?  My heart went out to them and I did mental Ho’oponopono as I blessed them with Reiki.

I came away extremely sad. For the thousandth time I asked myself why we, the so called humans, have so little compassion for animals … why, when we have so much else to eat, do we kill and eat animals ….

After giving Reiki to the cows, we made monetary donations of Gur (jaggery, which the cows love) and Sarson (mustard leaves, also a favourite with the cows).

Please do watch the slide show and video below.

Thank you for your support!
