Stawisha Maisha – An Asian Foundation Exhibition

We were invited to participate in an exhibition by The Asian Foundation, Kenya. The Asians of Kenya are people that have their origins in India, Pakistan and other countries in the Indian peninsula. The theme of the exhibition was Stawisha Maisha, Kiswahili for Transforming Lives. The exhibition ran from 11th – 14th May 2017

Transforming Lives is what Lotus Healing Seva Group is all about! So we took up the offer, and took our place among many other philanthropic organisations operating in Kenya to uplift the poor, the needy, the destitute, the marginalized.

As usual our stand was the most popular in the hall, because of the free Reiki treatments we were offering to the public. Over the 4 days of the exhibition, we gave Reiki to no less than 294 people! Men, women, children all flocked to our stand to experience that special healing touch!

We also received oral testimonials from a few grateful recipients which have been recorded on video below.

Video 1.A lady who had diabetes, came for Reiki for an open sore on her leg. After receiving just one Reiki treatment, the oozing had stopped and the wound was beginning to heal! She was very grateful!

Video 2. An elderly man in a wheel chair was suffering from Parkinsons Disease. According to his Care giver, he could not walk properly, used to shuffle his feet while walking and get tired after a few steps. Bubbles Dhadialla gave him full body healing, after which he stood up and walked with support, confidently, without shuffling his feet at all. Not only that, he walked a fair distance, to the total amazement of his care giver and all watching him at the exhibition, and with a happy smile on his face! He too was very grateful, kept saying Thank you!

Video 3. Over 4 years ago, we had a terrorist attack in one of our malls in Nairobi. Young 15 year old Bhavya Barot was severly wounded in his arms and legs, and he had grenade bits in over 70 percent of his body. Lotus Healing Seva Group gave him Reiki treatments at the hospital and later at his home when he had been discharged. Four years later, this young man came up to our stall to give his thanks to the LHSG!

The LHSG Sevaks that did this seva were Rashmeen, Nalina, Shalini, Pooja, Laveena, Cooky, Bindi, Lata, Bubbles, Anuradha, Grace, Sheela, Priya, Sheela, Monica, Pratima, Mamta, Punita and myself, Kamal. We were also joined by 4 young girls from the Hawkers Market Girls Centre. These girls had been trained in Reiki by us.

Please read on for Monica’s account below, watch the photos and of course the videos that follow!

Stawisha  Maisha

The participation at the Stawisha Maisha Exhibition not only made us at LHSG aware of various organizations helping the society in their own way, it also brought an exposure to our group. The three day event saw us introducing the drug less therapy called Reiki to numerous people of who 294 experienced the healing with hands from our committed team of healers.

With a humble decor of our stall depicting our simplistic down to earth approach we had to make a very early beginning- literally within minutes of the Exhibition declared officially open. No sooner did the gates open to public than we had a few curious enquirer visitors who wanted to understand what our group was all about. I asked thefFirst visitor, a lady if she would like to experience what I had just explained to her. She agreed readily and was spellbound at the way she felt relaxed.

After that, there was no looking back and no time to pause till the exhibition finally closed on the third day. The LHSG stall that started off with three chairs eventually had eight or more chairs at given times with times when we had a huge queue of people awaiting their turn to experience Reiki. We were overflowing and I even gave Reiki to a few people at a neighboring stall as our stall with all chairs occupied had a lot more healers and healees than we could accommodate.

On a personal front I am full of gratitude as this event came at a time when I was grieving the loss of my mother a few days back. The seva opportunity that came with Stawisha Maisha helped me ease my grief. The minute I would place my hands on someone to give healing, I felt a sense of relief and forgot my grief for the duration. In my heart, I knew that I had dedicated this seva to the memory of my loving mum. That made me feel satisfied besides helping others.

Some of the perks that we sevaks received were the lovely comments from the people who experienced the Reiki moments such as : . ” unbelievable “, ” such a calm feeling”, “oh my God, my headache’s gone”, ” I feel so relaxed” , ” how did you do this?” ” you have magic in your hands” and many more such heartwarming words. The icing on the cake was when on Day 2 we had Bubbles giving Reiki to an elderly gentleman on his wheelchair who wished to walk after the healing. He walked the way he hadn’t done in a long time and the video clip below speaks all for the miracle moment of joy.

Lastly I would like to express gratitude to our guru  Kamal Tolia who has guided us all so well on the path of seva and instilled the wonderful teamwork spirit amongst us group members. My gratitude would be incomplete without expressing my appreciation towards Punita Acharya who took charge of affairs ref this event from the very conceptual stage and carried it forward with her efficient maturity from sorting the documentation to planning, stall decor and the volunteer rota. Thanks also goes out to the LHSG sevaks who dedicated their time and efforts to this beautiful seva.

LHSG Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 camp at Hawkers Market Girl Center was a very gratifying Sewa! The volunteers were Punita, Grace, Priya and me, Mamta. It was wonderful to hear the girls share their experiences of Reiki and how it is helping them and others.

The girls were pretty quick in memorizing the symbols and we felt amazed at their potential!

They learnt distant healing and sent Reiki to their family and friends.

The Reiki box was exciting for them.

We all were happy with the success of the camp and encouraged the girls to come for Sewa to Faraja Cancer Support Center.

I had 4 girls for Reiki Level 1.

They were very receptive when taught the chakras.

They had no idea about Reiki before I started teaching them, but I could see there was a positive attitude to learn and become good healers.

They were pleasantly surprised at themselves that Reiki was flowing through their hands and could heal others!

They were ready to learn level 2 as soon as possible!

Reiki Is Loved By The Old People

This is the second time we went to Nyumba Wa Mzee (Old People’s Home) in Kasarani, Nairobi to give Reiki to all in the Home. We were very pleased that they had asked to return to give them healing, for, they said, that they love our healing hands … Reiki made them feel so so so much better!

So here we were, on 23rd March, all ready to give of ourselves again, to ease the pain and discomfort of the elderly members of our society!

The LHSG Sevaks that did this seva were Sheela, Shalini, Monica, Grace, Kulmeet, Nalina, Shalini, Anuradha, Shariffa, Karima, and Isabella from HMGC also joined us.

Please read on for Sheela Shah and Shalini Srivastava’s  accounts.

Today, 23rd March,  we were back at the Kasarani old people’s home. There were 10 of us attending this seva today and as usual, everything went so smoothly. Clothes, uji, cereal and cupcakes were donated.

My immense gratitude to Reiki for the positive changes that I have noted this time, such as, the genuine eagerness to receive healing, the confidence to ask for healing to be given to areas that were missed and the general ease that they felt having us.  This is a vast improvement from my first visit all those moons ago.

Shalini and I also met two of the individuals who were recipient of our donation for their eye surgery. It was an incredible out pouring of gratitude on their part for now they were able to see again. We received their blessings on behalf of our Lotus family. Thank you to my fellow Lotus sisters for the brilliant team work and gratitude for this seva opportunity.

Thanks Sheela for your update you have covered everything on today’s seva

Just want to add that as i was giing hans on Reiki to the old mamas (Swahili for women)on wheel chairs they were reluctant on receiving it ..so i started giving from slight distance. When I finished giving on the chakras from far, I decided to try my luck to do hands on for meridians …. And to my surprise two of them relaxed  and were ready for my touch …  they started patting my hands and smiling ..my day was made with their touch and smile

always thankful to God and to Reiki for the seva I always get to do ….

The Faraja Reiki I camp on 10th May, couldn’t have been on a more auspicious day than Vesak day. Shalini, Nalina and I felt very blessed for the opportunity to do this seva with Lord Buddha’s energy upon us.
Out of the 21 confirmed registered names, only 11 people actually showed up. But this number proved to be totally adequate for an effective and productive Reiki teaching/learning session. Participants were recovering cancer patients, carers and one volunteer.

Though we were a bit delayed in starting, the time was well managed and everything went like clockwork. The attunement, self healing, partner healing and the general question and answers session all went so smoothly. The participants were happy to receive this powerful tool of healing modality that they were looking forward to learn the next level of Reiki.

My gratitude to Shalini and Nalina for their valuable assistance. My work was made that much easier. Gratitude to my Lotus family for all your best wishes and support. And last but not least, gratitude to all the participants for the opportunity to successfully carry out this seva.
