Reiki For The Voiceless Ones

Nairobi has an Animal Orphanage adjacent to its National Park. Here baby wild animals that have been orphaned due to poaching (mostly) and parents’ deaths are brought by the Wild Life Rangers. In this home they are looked after, fed and nourished.

One would hope that when these animals grow into adulthood, they would fit back in the wild from where they came. But A few years ago, an experiment to integrate four grown up lionesses into the wild failed … two were killed and the remaining two returned to the orphanage, the only safe home they knew. So unfortunately, even after they are all grown up, they cannot be released into the wild as they do not have survival skills or hunting skills anymore and besides, they are too used to humans. So sadly, they spend the rest of their lives in these enclosures . .

To give Reiki to these sweet little voiceless ones, Lotus Healing Seva Group went to the Orphanage on 14th March 2017.  Some of us adopted the very new baby animals, a lesser Kudu (antelope), a cheetah and a leopard. This involves paying a small amount for their upkeep. These 3 animals and others like them had been rescued when they were less than 2 months old .. . They couldn’t even open their eyes then . .. in the pictures they are about 4 – 6 months old . .

As we moved from one fenced enclosure to another, we blessed the animals with Reiki … The smaller cats like cheetahs and leopards were followed by the bigger cats, the lions and lionesses, then came a buffalo, crocodile, guinea fowls, warthog and even mongooses! The little monkeys entertained us with their quick grabbing of peanuts ….

We finished this outing with a picnic lunch, after which we sent Reiki energy to all wild animals (endangered or not) in the adjacent Nairobi National Park and in all National Parks and wild spaces in the world!

The next day, we were given some very gladdening news from ranger Martha Mukami and the orphanage helpers Ronald and Nairobi. The orphaned animals are fed every afternoon. We were told that they never finish their afternoon meal. But on 14th March, after our Reiki healing for them, they all finished ALL of their food, AND, they were very calm all day! Reiki wins again!

Please do read the accounts of the LHSG members and please watch the pictures and video that follow.

Thank you for your support!

Animal Orphanage Visit 14th March 2017

Reiki welcomed by orphaned animals

The warm sun for once did not appear so hot as our hearts were glowing with the warmth of Reiki filled love towards the animals that we met at the Animal Orphanage in Nairobi. Excitement was obvious on all our faces on the 14th day of March 2017.

Thanks to Shariffa Keshavjee who had developed contact with Martha at the Animal Orphanage early this year as she led us through to the rangers as well as the offices where we selected our options for adoption of a Cheetah cub, a Leopard cub and a Lesser Kudu Kid.

We started off by first meeting the Kudu Kid. Kamal chose to adopt her under her granddaughter Seren’s name and I chose to adopt her under my niece Sadhavi’s name.  At first she shied away but then as we were handed over a milk bottle she allowed us to feed us while we patted her with our healing hands.

We then met a Cheetah cub who was adopted by Kamal, Sheela, and myself. We were allowed to hold her in our hands. It was like a dream come true for me as I had always wanted to pat a Cheetah. I got much more, holding her and patting as well while rest of the group members gave healing to her.

After that we moved to the enclosure with a Leopard cub and two Cheetah cubs who were very playful and full of life. Our adopted Leopard cub was a shy one and she was very quiet throughout. We gave healing and proceeded towards various other animals one by one. Some of the lions took more healing than others and just calmed down to receive the healing energy. It was an amazing experience.

My heart is filled with gratitude at such a blessed opportunity that through this lovely gift of Reiki Energy we crossed barriers of speciesism and speech and communicated with various animals through the energy field.

What an awesome day we had today. It had been a long time since I was at the animal orphanage and today’s visit was a reminder of the animals in our “back yard”!! Giving healing to all the animals felt so good that it confirmed what a brilliant seva this was. Thank you Shariffaji for instigating it. My first experience in holding and patting a cheetah and am grateful that I could also give healing at the same time. What a cutie Cheeto is with her big beautiful eyes. The other animals were equally lovely. They took healing so quickly even though they are well taken care. Thank you Mamta and Monica for all the videos and pictures????????. They give me a warm fuzzy feeling of joy and love. Thank you to the rest of my Lotus sisters for the yummy nourishment and wonderful company….for our happiness was multiplied because we shared this experience. Last but not least, we sent healing to all the animals in all national parks/world for various reasons. I cannot emphasize enough how empowering Reiki is and thankful for opportunities like today. Yes, what an awesome day.

The day started off really well. Braved the traffic and managed to reach our destination well in time. The nature was very kind. It was hot but bearable. We actually experienced the calming effect of reiki on the animals. After treating ourselves to sumptuous food ended up giving reiki to all the animals in the their natural habitat. A day to remember. Feel truly blessed for this wonderful opportunity to do seva.

It was a seva filled day dedicated to our furry and feathery friends from the animal kingdom.

All the animals were very receptive to the healing energies. The lions grew calmer, the monkeys became playful and the birds were very approachable.

I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to heal our beautiful and diverse wildlife throughout Kenya and all over the world.

Appreciation and Thanks

We are often asked … What do we get by doing the Reiki healing and Reiki training seva that we do … what do we achieve?

Our reply is … when sick people feel better almost straightway and they tell us so …. When children who have been trained in Reiki apply it in their lives and are healed physically and emotionally and improve in their studies and behavior … when people who have been looking for a job desperately … and they finally get one! …. These are our unsolicited rewards!

Here below are 3 videos from grateful recipients …

The first one is from a cancer patient at Faraja Cancer Support Centre where LHSG Kenya volunteers every week to give Reiki sessions to cancer patients and their care givers.

The last two are from Mama Margaret and Rachel of Makimei Children’s Home. The children, adults and workers at the Home were attuned to Reiki level 2 a few months ago.

Talia Agler Girls and Reiki People Planting Trees at Karura Forest

Hello Reiki people. I hope you are fine wherever you are. I thank my Almighty God for this wonderful and great moment, opportunity that he has given us as Talia Agler Girls through Reiki people to come and share, taught us more about Reiki healing which I didn’t know anything about. Since I learnt about Reiki Healing level one I have been able to do Reiki Healing on myself and also to my fellow sister here in Talia Agler. But what I have learnt today is that we can do Reiki Healing to other living organism like trees which you must ask forgiveness to our mother earth, massage the tree removing the polythene paper, pour some water in the hole, planting the tree, blessing and also giving name.

  • I also learnt about climbing the mountain you don’t have to fear.
  • Meeting new friends from Reiki was lovely to me.
  • Celebrating the climbing mountain for those who made it to the end and came back well was also very enjoyable.
  • It was wonderful being encouraged by Cooky about the importance of planting trees because of our future children and oxygen.
  • Sitting together at café with you and taking the pumpkin soup was awesome.
  • Celebrating Cooky birthday and singing happy birthday in Hindu language I like it.
  • Being given gift hamper by one of you was great and emotional to me.
  • Taking photo together as one family.

Thank you Reiki people for your love, care, kindness and for everything that you have done to Talia Agler Girls Shelter and for this opportunity of planting trees at Karura Forest.

Love you

  • Planting the trees session and taking photos.
  • Taking the pumpkin soup and eating burger which is very tasty. I like it.

Showing Our Love For The Elderly And The Aged

Lotus Healing Seva Group shared its Love and Light with the elderly residents of The Little Sisters Of The Poor, Numba Wa Mzee (Home for the Aged), in Kasarini, Nairobi. This event happened a week ago on 21st February.

This is the third time we were visiting them in as many years. Some of the residents remembered us and what we had done … laying our hands on them … and that they had felt better! So with that small ice breaking, we set out to do what we had come to do … give individual Reiki healing to each and every one of them … which included the residents, the workers and the management Nuns.

Needless to say, they simply loved the session. This was evident by the quick relaxation they experienced … some dozed off right away, 2 mins into the session! Many of them as I passed by,  would take my hand and place it on their chest or knee or other body part …. Their eyes requesting healing, this after they had already received a full healing session from one of us! That is a measure of how much they wanted our loving hands to give them loving care ….

Truly, the loving, healing power of Reiki never ceases to amaze!

Please read on for Monica’s Account of the Seva and do watch the pictures that follow ….

REIKI FOR THE ELDERLY

Not many are fortunate to give back to parents anything ref time, effort and fulfillment of needs in even half a measure of what they receive. The next best opportunity is to give to parent like people and 13 of us at LHSG got lucky on 21st Feb this year to go and spend some time with the elderly at The Home for Aged run by The Little Sisters of the Poor at Kasarani in Nairobi.

We gathered at our meeting point in the morning and carpooled to drive off slightly before 9am. The traffic wasn’t bad and we were there quite early. To our pleasure, most of the aged residents of the Home were already sitting in the common room waiting for us.  While Sr. Esther tried calling in rest of the elderly from their rooms, we moved our gifts of Rice, Maize meal, Adult Diapers, Drinking Water, Cakes, Beans, Medicines, Biscuits and a few other random items out from the cars.

Having handed over the gifts and having presented a Cheque of donation money to Sr. Teresita we commenced with our purpose of visit – Reiki. Some elderly remembered us from our visit last time and knew what to expect, while others simply accepted our healing hands in utmost trust.

The Home that houses 70 elderly alongside the workers and the Sisters were met by the LHSG sevaks Kamal, Mamta, Karima, Laveena, Priya, Bubbles, Pinky, Pooja, Lata, Grace, Sheela, Shalini and myself Monica. While most of the healees were in the common room some of them were quite sick and remained in the rooms where some of us went and gave healing to them.

It was a very humbling experience as very few people were lively and the rest were just quiet most of the time. I gave Reiki to a man who couldn’t hear and couldn’t tell me his name but was very grateful at being attended to and folded his hands to express his gratitude.  Other two men who told me there names as Tom and Grey ( I couldn’t understand their Kenyan names so they told me Christian names ) enjoyed the Reiki experience though they said they did not have any health issues. Then I attended to Grace, who was on a wheelchair. She was reluctant to talk to me at first but once the healing was done, she spoke in fluent English and said she liked it and felt very good.

Finally Lata and I gave Reiki to another gentleman on a wheelchair who had waited long for his turn to come. As soon as we finished, he wanted to go out of the room.  As we came out in the lawn before leaving from there we got Divine Blessings from the Sun that appeared very bright with a huge grey and rainbow halo around it.
