Mukuru Reiki Camp.

After careful preparations for the last few days on all the details that had to be followed for the Reiki camp today in Mukuru, I finally felt ready and all set to conduct this camp. I was to teach the Reiki II group with Rashmeen, Deepa and Bubbles assisting.

The morning started with the usual Nairobi traffic compounded with rain. None of this dampened our spirits and we reached Mukuru on time. There were 44 students for Reiki II and 58 students for Reiki I.
Josephine had already separated the groups and started the registration. We quickly organised ourselves accordingly and started relatively on time.

My faith in Reiki once again sailed me through the whole process. Having assisted Mamta previously twice, I tapped on this experience and with a silent prayer, started teaching. The students were young adolescent boys and girls. They were excited, eager and enthusiastic. I found all my nervousness disappear and with Rashmeen, Deepa and Bubbles with me, I began to enjoy the whole experience. The students were receptive and after the attunement, they noticed the power of the symbols that they could now call upon. The various healing exercises that they learnt and practiced, reaffirmed how empowered they were now. Lunch was received with gratitude by all and as always, delicious.

The session after lunch began without any incidents. The exercise about the “Reiki box” was a popular one where the students could not stop adding their requests. It was exciting to notice their realisation on how liberating it was to give Reiki healing for various reasons, events, scenarios, plants, animals, objects, pass, present, future time frames, ect, ect. They embraced their level II Reiki ability so completely that it was humbling to be part of their experience.

My gratitude to all my Lotus sisters for all your assistance in every way; Kamalji for your guidance and confidence in me and Reiki for making this seva a successful one.

LnL,
Sheela Shah

We were there in time
Ready to give back to society
Share our knowledge
Of this supernatural power

They were there too
Of their own will or asked to?
Peer Pressure or simply curious?
Some huddled together some spreading for more space!

Sheela started to share the knowledge
They stared her in the eye and said,
‘What can you teach us,
That life hasn’t already?

We said, ‘kids let’s make a circle’
They said, ‘we are not kids!’
We said, ‘to us you are!’
They said, ‘our lives never let us be!’

We asked them questions
One or two replied
Others had more to share amongst themselves
Less with us

For we were foreigners
Outsiders who had it all!
We wore sketchers on our feet
They wore torn socks and muddy gum boots!

In the sweltering heat
Many continued to wear their sweaters
For to remove these would mean
Showing off dresses without buttons, t shirts with holes

Were we mad to leave our luxuries
And stand in soggy black cotton?
Amidst the unbearable stench of urinals
Dodging cockroaches scurrying around?

Oh lord, why must there be such a difference –
Between those who must have
And those who have not?
We are all your creation

As the hours ticked by
Some saw sense in the teachings
Others grew restless
And nudged each other for pens, pencils, water bottles, any excuse!

But we were persistent
We were here to share
Our miracle knowledge – REIKI
If keenly applied could change their plight!

The little brown bags were given out
The reiki boxes they were to be
All the requests rolled in
Now they could see the gain

All were keen to write their requests
Many wanted more time
In a circle they earnestly prayed
Understanding the power in numbers!

And now the camp had ended
Perhaps, all too soon?
We felt jubilant!
The experienced Reiki Master had achieved the goal!

Forty Four attuned to Reiki Level 2
Under the swealtering heat of the Mabati roof
We had given them a tool
To be and have what they wanted

For their highest good!
For our highest good!

LHSG 10th Anniversary Seva 10

On 29th October, LHSG carried out its Seva No. 10 …. A Reiki Level 1 camp for 58 People in the slums of Mukuru, most of them children aged about 12 years. It was conducted by Nalina, assisted by Shariffa, Gauri and Shalini.
The children were so many, it was impossible to include them in one group photo …. Hence we had to take out a few photos of the group at the end. Please read on for Nalina’s report and Shariffa’s comments ….. and do look at the pictures at the end.

It was a truly amazing experience to teach a reiki level 1 class. My first time to teach such a large group of 58 people. Having taken on the responsibility, I wondered how it will be as teaching reiki level 1 is like introducing a brand new concept for the first time and wondering how accepting the people will be to it. I was assisted by Shariffa, Shalini and Gauri and it felt such a comfort having my dear soul sisters with me. A big thank you to all of them for their support.

All these questions and fears were allayed as soon as we entered the room and I set up the sacred space in the room. The group comprised of mainly children under 13 and a handful of adults learning dressmaking and computer classes. The children were so open and responsive and there was an air of positivity in the room. They were also so well behaved and were all absorbing the information and the attunement so completely.

As I started the attunement, I felt the golden light and I didn’t need to think at all as the steps and the symbols just started flowing. I was full of gratefulness as to how things just flow in syncronicity when we are doing seva and how the higher energies come to our assistance.

I would like to share some of the comments from the participants after the attunement:

1. I saw rainbow lights
2. I saw my mother and we were eating a meal together and I felt happy and content
3. I felt warm and relaxed
4. I saw light and I felt happy
5. I saw the moon, the sun and the stars and 2 lights like indicators and I felt so happy

Such comments from young children who are being exposed for the first time to the concept of energy and healing brought happiness to my heart.

Thereafter, the rest of the class proceeded well with the participants doing self healing and partner healing.

I am humbled by the whole experience of having touched their lives with a tool that will help them now and in the future for their well being.

Thank you to my guru and the group for making this seva possible for me to do.

Love and light
Nalina

LHSG Congratulations on an exemplary camp. The children were assembled. Their names writte. Signed. They were prepared. We arrived in time. The trainers were calm and poised present giving. The children were disciplined receiving participating. So appreciative of the food. From our first visit to Now, we have changed and so have they. This is called benefits of Seva. Seva ka Meva. (Hindi for Fruits of Seva)

LHSG 10th Anniversary Donation

Sanitary Napkins Donation to HAGEP — part of 10th Anniversary Celebrations

The founder and Director of HAGEP (Hope Alive Girls Empowerment Program) Ms.Catherine Adhiambo Andrew visited us at a LHSG, Thursday meeting on 24th September at the residence of LHSG member Neena Gupta.

She was presented with 39 cartons of Sanitary Napkins worth KSh 20,500/- for the girls in Kakamega in Kenya, whom this organization provides with the supply of Sanitary Napkins for the whole year. Thus the girls can continue with their schooling unhindered by lack of sanitary care during their periods.

Catherine informed the group that their organization is registered as a charitable organization. They announce this project of collection via various helping hands such as ours once a year and gather enough stock to cater for the girls under their care in Kakamega for the whole year.

Our donation of 39 cartons consisted of each carton containing 16 pkts of napkins so we gave a total of 624 packets which will benefit 54 girls for a year.
