Lotus Healing Seva Group 20 Years Part 33 Seva No. 98

Reiki Hands On healing to the residents of Nyumba Ya Manzee

On 14 August 2025, LHSG Kenya members Monica, Pratima, Anuradha, Sonal, Sarika, and i, and our volunteer member Kavita extended our love and light to the old folks at the Nyumba ya Wanze, many of whom were over 100 yrs old!! This is a home run by The Little Sisters of The Poor, in Kasarani, Nairobi.

To begin with, Sister Anne explained to them in Kiswahili, what we would be doing: placing our hands on them, and that it would make them feel better. Each of us set about giving them Reiki touch healing, as they sat around in the garden, most of them in wheelchairs, enjoying the sun, or in the hall and corridors.

We had a people with poor vision, some blind, cervical cancer, mentally challenged, who had to be kept in a locked room, because she would run away and get lost and hurt, poor movement in limbs, neurological issues, diabetes, dementia. The one thing that we felt was, that they all need someone to talk to.

Some of them showed their gratitude with a kiss, a hug, and holding our hands and giving us blessings. Many were a little aware at the start of the treatment, but very soon went off into a deep sleep as the healing progressed.

This seva was possible due to the consistent efforts of LHSG Founder Kenya Member Monica. Thank you Monica. Our gratitude also to the House Mother Sister Helen for arranging for our visit, and to the care giver interns of DCU university, who were so helpful in being the translators.

We donated 5 + bales of adult diapers, a few clothes, milk, 140 Vegetable samosas, and 186 cup cake, eggless and less sweet. Before serving the food, we Reiki blessed it in the kitchen. Then we served them the meal with our own hands, an essential Hindu Tradition, of giving with your hands which equates giving with love. They were so excited and eager to eat the treat foods that the sisters forgot to pray before serving the meal and we had to pause in between to let them say the pre meal prayers.

A big gratitude to dear LHSG Kenya member Anuradha, her friend and LHSG Kenya member Laveena for their generous contributions towards the adult diapers and to dear LHSG Australia member Raj for the cakes.

Please do watch the short video below.

Love and Light to all!
