laid down the weight of the world
and stepped into quiet eternity.
Yet the current he rediscovered

A Remembrance carried

In the stillness of meditation

On this 100th death anniversary of Master Mikao Usui, it is a powerful moment to reflect on the gentle current of healing that flows from his journey into our hands today.
Upon the mountain, you sat in stillness,
With nothing but your will,
And from the universe, a light descended,
A promise to fulfill.
You called it simply “Reiki,”
The spirit’s gentle art,
A way to mend the broken soul,
And mend the wounded heart.
You taught us first the precepts,
Those five simple, sacred lines:
Just for today, let worry go,

So, when we place our hands in prayer,
Or on a friend in need,

As we offer this poem, we also hold space for the depth of his teachings. For those on the path, his legacy lives on in every session and every moment of mindful presence:
The Five Reiki Principles are his greatest gift of simple, profound ideals. They are the very “spiritual medicine” He spoke of, inviting us to live in a state of gratitude and peace today .
Reiki is not just a personal practice but a compassionate action to the world in its darkest moments .
He empowered individuals to find their own connection to universal energy. He simply opened the door.?

Tribute to Sensei Usui:
I am Monica Gokaldas, a Reiki healer since 2000 in Nairobi, Kenya. I am a founder member of the Lotus Healing Seva Group.
On the occasion of 100th death anniversary of Dr. Mikao Usui I have dedicated my Reiki healing for the two days yesterday and today (10th March and 11th March 2026) to his memory and his teachings.
- On 10th March while in the temple I felt compelled to send Reiki healing to a patient Lata Ramnani and I started doing that whilst rest of the people were engaged in prayers. A lady sitting next to me started talking to me, but I had to ignore her as healing was more important. When I returned home at night, I got a message that Lata was going low and critical but survived that moment somehow and started feeling better. I am so grateful for the timely mental Reiki alerts that guide us to healing at the crucial moments.
- On the 11th of March I dedicated:
-Touch healing given to a Social Health worker David who works with Cancer patients. This and the following healing were done along with a reiki therapist colleague Pallavi. -Non touch healing to 7 cancer patients undergoing Chemotherapy, 1 Multiple Sclerosis patient and 5 caregivers.
-Did distance healing for :-Grief Trauma Healing of loved ones on the list on my phone.
-Grief trauma healing to the souls and loved ones of those 50+ that perished during last weekend’s floods in and around Nairobi.
-Grief Trauma healing to those whose establishments, factories, houses, schools, vehicles etc were damaged or destroyed by the recent floods in and around Nairobi. They have suffered huge losses.
-Grief Trauma Healing to the souls and loved ones of those perished due to the ongoing political crisis of missile raids particularly Iran, Israel, Kuwait, UAE and the affected regions. Also sent healing to all those injured in any way due to these attacks.
- Healing to the DNA fear and to replace it with Love and Peace energy. This was done for all affected by the recent political crisis and particularly having our members Kirtikala and Pooja and their families in mind.
- Healing sent to a few individual cases on the healing list on my phone: Lata Ramnani, Kokilaben Solanki, Mohanlal Gahlot , Kuki Mahajan.
I am grateful for the opportunity to do this seva. My gratitude to Master
Usui for always showering his blessings upon us Reiki healers worldwide and seek his blessings for the Reiki camp tomorrow 12th March at Faraja Cancer Support, Kenya where nearly 50 people are registered to benefit from getting trained to Reiki 1.
Reiki miracles never leave our side and I experienced one today. As I returned home from the Reiki seva, enter the lift escalator there was a power blackout in our area and it’s still no power as I type this. I called upon Reiki for help and within minutes I was pulled out by technicians and safely escorted till my apartment. It is a miracle because in such cases I have known for people to be stuck inside for 30-40 minutes and longer in our apartment block. I consider myself blessed to be protected by reiki and the sacred space.

The weekly healing meeting that our group, Lotus Healing Seva Group, does to the members and world issues, gives a sense of satisfaction and also reminds us of the responsibility to heal Mother Earth.
With the present war-like situation in the Middle East (I live in Abu Dhabi) Reiki is a blessing as when we do healing it helps me calm down and accept the thing easily.

Reiki came into my life through my friend Cooky who said I must learn it. We used to wait at our children’s prep school at pick up time and chat about different things. I had just left a very intense job in a very senior position and was now a home maker in a joint family of 8 people. It was tough. It was new and for someone whose purpose was consulting services to large companies and leading a firm of 70 people now I had to ask which size the carrots needed to be chopped. It was a shock to the system. 2 years into this situation my father passed away and my sister and I with my brother’s guidance got stuck into resolving matters of his estate. Again it was very tough.
Learning Reiki gave me inner peace and support and helped me to balance my emotions at that crucial time so that I was able to give my best to my daughter. I was also able to give Reiki to situations which gave me an additional harness and support when we were working through my Dad’s estate and when I had anxious moments over my daughter and in the large multi layered family structure. We were all together but we were all also very alone.
I am very grateful to the teachings of Sensei Usui as these have become an anchor for me. Each morning as I wake up I look at the Reiki group messages and send Reiki to people in need. The same routine at night. I have now gone back to work and during the day reiki is with me all the time. I send to myself, situations at work , a work colleague or friend or family in need. I don’t mention all the instances I send reiki to in my reiki requests but I know that all the Reiki family is with me when I am sending reiki and ask them to join me.
A 100 years after Master Usui reiki is still very alive and the greatest gift I have ever received. Much gratitude to Sensei Usui and to Kamalji for sharing his teachings.
