Reiki Training to Cancer Patients and Care Givers

Lotus Healing Seva Group started the year 2022 by conducting a Reiki Training camp for the cancer patients and their care givers of the Faraja Cancer Support Centre in Nairobi.

The 6 hour training was done online, over two days: 26^th and 27^th January.

Thank you to LHSG Members Sheela and Azmina who conducted the workshop and gratitude to Judy and Beryl of FCSC for facilitating the workshop.

The Faraja Reiki ll workshop started yesterday from 10am to 1pm and ended successfully today. Along with Azmina who assisted me on both days, there were 3 out of the 5 participants on the first day and two on the second day. Due to travelling for a funeral, Helen was unable to attend the second day.

One of the participants, Shamshad, shared a beautiful experience after Reiki l. Being a lung cancer survivor, Shamshad’s doctor found lesions on her right lung after she had bloody productive coughs. She was immediately admitted in ICU for more tests and treatment. When the PET scan machine broke down and Shamshad was sent home for a couple of days till the machine was fixed, this was when Shamshad gave herself constant Reiki directly on the affected lung. When the PET test was done eventually, no lesions were found and all was clear. Reiki blessings.

With this extraordinary experience, I was thrilled to start the session.

The introduction to the Reiki symbols and the attunement went smoothly. All three participants were amazed how powerful the symbols were when the first absent healing exercise was done. The second day saw all 4 of us promptly online and we started by 10.10am. I was able to breeze through the rest of the sessions without any problems. Both Shamshad and Judy were model students and were excellent in grasping all the different details/methods of absent healing. Both the ladies were ecstatic with the Reiki box and the ease to send Reiki for multiple intentions. When we did the group healing exercise, they were able to pick up on the power of group healing even though we were only 4 ladies strong.

All in all, the sessions of both days went smoothly. Azmina was a great help to have for assisting. She came to my rescue brilliantly, liaising with Faraja in the middle of the sessions for IT reasons. Thank you Azmina.

The workshop went very well. Sheela is an excellent teacher, a great example to follow.

Though the group was very small but we got some amazing feedback.

Experience with healing self and others after level 1

1. Helped with sleep and stress
2. One of them was hospitalized in ICU in December and initial tests showed relapse of cancer. She would place her palm on the affected area and after a couple of weeks when she did her PET scan there was no trace of cancer.

Level 2 experiences

After the attunement the trainees felt calm, relaxed, hungry, energized and did not feel like getting up.

Doing the self healing some felt pain in certain areas healed and were no longer painful

At one point when Sheela was teaching the different applications of Reiki a trainee said she experienced and saw the white light.

It was an amazing experience and I am very grateful for the opportunity.

Following are Shamshad’s and Judy’s feedback.

The Reiki II was a very important session as it addressed all the issues that did not get addressed in Reiki I and answered all the questions that were not asked. It summed up the course and any doubts students had were cleared and now as a student I felt we can proceed with confidence and understood the power of Reiki especially about the power in numbers. Sheela was very clear with her instructions and gave detailed explanation at every step of the course. Thank you for offering this course.

The first part of her narration is referring to the healing we had to give Judy and another individual who was being difficult in signing the cheque that Judy really needed to pay the tax man. Three times, during the session, Judy was interrupted with calls from this individual. After we gave healing to the whole situation, Judy was calmer and settled down.

“” Interesting the delay on the Cheq had to happen.

Something good came out of it. It was necessary.

It helped me calm down completely actually and helped steer my thoughts to some events in life are beyond your control. “”

1. Five patients and care givers at Faraja Cancer Support Centre, Nairobi, Kenya. This was done online.
2. Two ladies in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This was done in person.

The former was conducted by LHSG Kenya members Mamta Advani and Azmina Mulji, the latter by LHSG UAE in charge Kirti Kamdar

The on line Reiki Level 1 training at Faraja Cancer Support Centre went very well. We had only 5 students, 2 cancer survivors and 3 care givers, but they were very keen, attentive and natural at Reiki. They were on time, taking notes, asking questions and sharing their experiences. Although it was a small group it was very interactive. It was a two day session from 10am-1 pm on 17th & 18th .

Azmina was very efficient with the preparation, coordination and teaching. Thank you Azmina.

The trainees had amazing experiences to share. They are now looking forward to the Reiki level 2 training in January.

The Faraja Reiki training camp went very very well. Everything flowed perfectly. I feel blessed to have two ladies for Reiki level 1, as part of our Lotus Healing Seva Group’s Anniversary Seva.

They were so eager to learn this awesome healing tool.

Both of them had questions and were amazed by the answers they got because it was new to them and to know what Reiki can do, they felt their decision to learn Reiki was right.

One lady is quite young and has a 6 year old son and wants him to get this spirituality in his life at an early age.

The Hawkers Market Girls Centre provides a yearly program of education and vocational training to girls aged between 16-22 years who live in the surrounding slums, and who are unable to access formal education. The Lotus Healing Seva Group (LHSG) has been teaching the girls Reiki for a number of years now, enabling them to learn and use healing for self and others. Our yearly Reiki Training program for the girls of the Hawkers Market Girls Centre was held on 10th and 11th November 2021.

This was my first experience teaching six (6) girls Reiki Level 1. The girls were aged between 17-18 years. The training was conducted using a virtual platform. A few setbacks, for instance, starting off later than scheduled and problems with the internet connection were experienced but notwithstanding, the training overall was a success.

Though the girls had no idea about what Reiki is, I found them to be very open-minded about the idea. They took a bit of time to grasp the history of Reiki and Chakras but with a bit of explanations they understood and even remembered Dr. Usui and his experiences as well as the Chakras, their positions and colors the next day. The attunement was well received by the students where they reported feeling light and lots of heat especially in their palms. After that they proceeded to do healing on themselves and they all felt of lots of heat in their palms, relaxation, feeling less stressful. One of them even felt her headache had gone and was feeling better blood flowing through the body.

The next day most of them expressed that they had slept very well the previous night and were feeling very relaxed. Whilst undertaking the partner-healing, they felt much heat again pouring out of their palms. At the end of the training, the girls appreciated the various benefits of Reiki which they had already started experiencing for themselves during the training. They promised to start their days by saying the 5 Reiki principles and try to practice them in their lives. They also undertook to do self-healing everyday as well as on others so that they continue to feel the wonderful benefits of Reiki. They expressed their gratitude for the gift of Reiki.

It was a most humbling experience for me, being given a change to be of service and pass on the gift of Reiki to these young girls, which I hope will be life changing for them. I am grateful to LHSG for the seva opportunity.

The HMGC Reiki level 2 online training on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th November 2021, was a great success and the girls benefited tremendously.

I had 13 girls in total. They had already been practicing their level 1 Reiki so learning the symbols came to them very easily.

As we progressed in learning, the girls were very happy that they could do distant healing for family members that were at home.

We as LHSG treated these girls with lunch on both the days. The first day was green grams, chappati, cabbage and carrot salad On the second day there was pilau rice, with a tomato and onion salad. This was a treat they thoroughly enjoyed.

Overall for me, as a teacher, I felt that this is going to help them in many different situations in their lives.

Tree Planting in the ISKCON Temple Grounds in Thika

This was our first external seva done together since the covid pandemic. It was done on Wednesday 10^th November 2021 by LHSG Kenya Members Sheela Shah, Deepu Mahajan, Laveena Keswani, Bhavna Baga, Sakina Taki. Mamta Advani was overall in charge. As in the past, forgiveness was asked from Mother Earth for hurting her, blessing the hole with Reiki,  reciting Sankrit mantras while planting the tree and watering it, and then finally blessing the tree with Reiki as well as giving a verbal blessing.

The tree planting at ISKCON farm in Thika was a beautiful Sewa. We were able to manage all the challenges of distance, time and planting 76 fruit trees (31 avocado + 21 papaya + 5 amla+ 17 lemon + 2  anjeer ) to plant with only 6 people.

What touched me deeply was that rain or strong sun …. Nothing mattered …..  we were all engrossed in planting the trees in the sacred way as taught by Kamalji.

Giving Reiki to the cows was also very gratifying.

Today’s tree planting exercise at ISKON farm was such a gratifying experience. This was my first seva outing since the pandemic began and I couldn’t have had it any other way. The farm was so well kept, with lovely fruits and vegetables flourishing everywhere. It was easy to feel inspired to add on more trees in the farm as it was apparent it will all be well cared for. The cool rain that blessed us was another bonus to our endeavour. Later, the scrumptious lunch that followed was a reward that we were pleasantly surprised as it turned out to be a feast. I loved the banana leaf meal. After the lunch, we went over to the gaushala where we fed the cows and bulls chapattis and completed our interaction by giving Reiki to all of them.

The whole experience was made perfect only by the organising back work done by Punita, Neena, Kamalji and Mamta….. and then the wonderful team work of today of Laveena, Bhavna, Mamta, Deepu and Sakina and last but not least to Reiki for the smooth sailing of the exercise. Thank you very much. Looking forward to many more LSHG ventures.

Yesterday’s tree planting at ISKCON farm was such a wonderful experience.. this is first seva after pandemic ..The farm is so beautiful and they kept them so well . fruits and vegetables are flourishing everywhere.. so healthy and fresh ..saw some pawpaw, bringal, bitter gourd, cherries, dudhi, mangoes….and so many others.. when we started planting and after some time rain started…felt God’s blessings showering on us ..it was very pleasant weather…Prabhu Narayan ji and workers are so supportive . They made our work very smooth.. after tree planting went for lunch .. really enjoyed banana leaf lunch … satwik bhojan…after that we went to gaushala . .fed cows and blessed them with lots of healing and love and light.

Big gratitude to Kamal aunty for organising this seva. Thank you all my soul sisters for organising and guiding for seva.

The tree planting seva at ISKON farm on 10th November was a wonderful experience. The energy was so divine. The farm is well kept. It looks so beautiful and serene. We LHSG are blessed to be able to plant 76 trees in that divine place. As soon as we started our seva, it started raining. I was touched to see our sisters seva bhaav and enthusiasm towards their work that even rains could not stop them. Pleasant weather was a favor and blessings from God. Then we were called for lunch. It was a different experience to have banana leaf meal. Than we proceeded to the gau shala. The cows look very healthy. It’s always satisfying to feed the cows and bless them. Lastly, we gave thanks to Narayan Prabhu and the workers in the farm as without their support and their help, we would not finish our seva smoothly. Big thanks to Kamal aunty, Punita and Mamta and Neena ji for organizing this trip. Everything was well planned.
