The camp on 29th December 2016 was a great success!

I was a bit nervous in the beginning in front of 16 strangers. I had met the host Neelam, briefly once and she asked me if I could teach her Reiki and I agreed. In a span of 5/6 days she organised the group at her place. Her husband and son (13yrs) joined in too including her neighbours, friends, relatives and 3 cancer patients who come to her saloon for wigs.

I called upon my group as I started with our regular Thursday prayers and sacred space . It centered me and I didn’t feel nervous any more!!

The camp went very very smoothly! The 16 students came on time and hence I could start on time . They were excellent learners and received the knowledge and attunement with a lot of openness and gratitude!

They had tremendous Reiki passing through their hands as they did self- healing and partner healing. They were very interested to go onto the next level too but were told to practice first!

They promised to do so and left very happy and grateful for the gift of Reiki!

They collected a certain amount for donation which will be given for charity soon.

I am feeling very grateful and happy for the lovely Sewa opportunity today!!

The Sacred Art of Planting Trees!

How easy is it to dig a hole to plant a tree? Quite easy.

How easy is to plant the tree in the hole? Quite easy.

How easy is to water the planted tree? Quite easy.

How easy is it to look after the tree till it grows tall strong and healthy? Now that is quite a tall order. Regular watering and weeding is called for and tender loving care!

Planting and looking after a tree is a sacred art. On 16th December, LHSG members Balvinder Dadhialla, Anuradha Nath, Laveen Keswani, and myself, Kamal Tolia went to Children’s Garden Home Orphanage and School, to impart this sacred knowledge to the older children of the home. These children were among the 90 children that had been taught Reiki Level 1 a week ago.

Each LHSG member, accompanied by a group of 8 (boys and girls) proceeded to the grounds where the holes had been dug.

First some manure was placed in the hole. Next, Mother Earth was apologised to for hurting her while digging the hole: Ho’oponopono was repeated 3 times, after which the hole was blessed with Reiki. The tree was then removed from the plastic bag and gently lowered into the hole. The soil was then packed around the tree lovingly, to the chanting of Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti … (requesting God for peace). Next came the watering … A little of the Reiki blessed water from the bottles was poured over the children’s tilted hands held lovingly over the tree so that it flowed gently onto the tree, while they chanted Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti … The next step was to bless the tree with Reiki as they wished positive thoughts for it, like ‘you will grow into a tall, strong and healthy tree … you will be a home for many little creatures …. ‘ Finally more water was poured at the roots of the tree, and the tree was named after two of the children, whose responsibility it would be to water the tree, give it Reiki, and generally look after it.

The children enjoyed the tree planting even as they carried out this Sacred Reiki ritual very seriously. They promised to look after ‘their trees’ well.

The trees that were planted were Mango, Avocado, Bananas, Loquart, and a Queen of the Night bush.

Before we left, in keeping with the Christmas festive season, we distributed milk, biscuits, sweets and lollipops to all the 170 children living in the home ranging from 2 – 20 years, and all the workers.

Please watch the tree planting videos and see the pictures that follow.

Thank you for supporting our website.

Wishing you and yours a spiritually uplifting Christmas!

Sharing our Love and Light With Orphans

A Home for 170 children ranging in age from 2 to 20 years. Where the children wash their own clothes every day. Where the older ones help bathe and clean the younger ones. Where the schooling is done on the same grounds as the Home. Where the children are nurtured and loved beyond measure by their ‘Daddy’ Moses and his wife Sylvie. Where the children are taught the lessons of giving back …… Such is The Childrens’ Garden Home in the Uthiru Suburb of Nairobi.

Lotus Healing Seva Group Kenya was asked to train these orphans in Reiki. As ready as ever, Sevaks Sheela Shah, Srinidhi Rao, Pratima Dutt, Shariffa Keshavji and I, Kamal Tolia took up this task of once more sharing our Love and Light with these young disadvantaged members of our society.

The Reiki Level 1 camp took place on 8th December 2016 at the Home in Uthiru, a suburb of Nairobi. Since the number of children was large, 90, we split them into two groups according to their age. Sheela, assisted by Monica, Shariffa and Pratima taught the 10 – 15 year olds and with Srinidhi’s assistance, I taught the 16 years and over.

At the end of the training many in my group happily reported ‘miraculous’ healings of their headaches, backaches, leg pains. They said that they felt happy ‘all over’. They promised to do the Reiki on themselves every day!

We had also sponsored their lunch of rice with tomatoes, potatoes and carrots, which they ate with relish halfway through the training. Before leaving, we treated them to biscuits and milk which made them happy all over again! Milk is not a part of their daily diet, so it was a pure luxury for them!

Please read on for Sheela’s account of the training of the children in her charge and of the other sevaks’ Srinidhi and Monica. Please also watch the interesting pictures and videos that say it all!

It was wonderful to witness how natural the affinity of Reiki to children. My lot of 10 to 15 year olds were a bunch of shy, smart, and cheeky lot that behaved so well through out. Self healing and partner healing exercises were done faultlessly considering a bit of coaxing was needed now and then. The star pupil, hands down, was the house mother’s baby girl. She keenly placed her hands correctly on the Chakras during self healing until she got tired just at the end.

After lunch, the partner healing exercise got off with a bit of challenge finding amicable partners. But partners were made, some not so amicable, and healing commenced. Wonderful healing energies. The hall got so warm with all the healing in spite of the mischief from some of the children.

Half way through this exercise, another young girl joined us saying she had been unaware of our session. Shariffaji got talking to her, explaining quietly what we were doing and without giving a second thought, asked her to try her hand in giving healing by just following what the others were doing. This young girl practiced on Shariffaji, and without getting attuned, exhibited beautiful healing prowess! Yes, the affinity of Reiki to children and vise versa .

My gratitude to Reiki for such amazing healing energies. We wound up our stay distributing milk and biscuits, which the children enjoyed very much. Mr. Moses, the house father, was happy to see the children had learnt an empowering skill and looked forward to the tree planting exercise next week by our very own LHSG.

When Shariffa ji got all of them to sing the song “I am happy…” it was a great welcome we received. The young adults were very quick to grasp and healed themselves very well. It was a joyous moment when they spoke about how they got healed of their headaches or stomach aches that they had that morning.

The camp on 8/12/16 was at a place we hadn’t been to earlier. No sooner had we entered the premises that Pratima and I were led by a girl called Grace with a very pleasant smile. She guided us towards the school area of the Children’s Garden Home and School. Srinidhi who had earlier visited the premises gave us  small tour of the place.

The children, specially the younger lot were very excited by our visit and gave us hugs and wanted to cling on to us. They introduced themselves to us and asked our names. They were obviously not briefed ref the purpose of our visit as none of them knew that there is something called Reiki. Kamal started giving the introduction to Reiki once they were settled on their seats. With the apparent leniency on discipline, new students kept pouring in as the teaching had already begun.

Attunement of about over eighty new Reiki students was a bit of a challenge owing to the space limitations hence some lay on the sheets on the floor while others lay or sat up on the benches. The attunement nonetheless went on very smoothly and the children had had their share of experiences to narrate of it.

They were now divided into two groups. The young adults were trained by Kamal Tolia and Srinidhi Rao while the younger lot were trained by Sheela Shah assisted by Shariffa, Pratima and myself. The children in all their cuteness practiced both self healing as well as partner healing in their mischievous playful manner. We were impressed by the Reiki energy flowing through their innocent hands. At times they got tired and some of them made escape excuses with visits to the toilets and to drink water.

Finally as we parted with them after giving them the cups of milk and biscuits they promised that they would practice Reiki everyday. Most of them said they were happy with our visit and asked us if we would be back soon. Many children tagged along with us holding our hands till we sat in the cars. It was a very fulfilling seva.

LHSG Kenya Breaks Ground In Tanzania

In September, I was invited by Ayesha Samji of the NGO for Wellness Tanzania to introduce Reiki in her centre Mukti in Dar E Salaam.

This was a Great Opportunity for Lotus Healing Seva Group to spread the Light in East Africa! So the invitation was accepted with alacrity, and on 18th November, with Seva Bhav in our heads and hearts, Anurahda Nath and I flew to Dar E Salaam! Later, our Tanzanian member Ridhi Shah joined us.

Here an intense program awaited us.

Day 1 we gave Reiki treatments to people at a Fair at the International School of Tanzania. It was the first time for many who came to receive the treatment, but they all reported feeling ‘great’ after. Anuradha gave Reiki to a young boy of perhaps 9 years who was mildly autistic. The next day his mother happily reported that his symptoms were much improved!

Day 2 was Visiting Dar E Salaam’s markets and shopping and Rest Day

Day 3 We gave Reiki to a group of young girls that had undergone fistula problems. They all felt very relaxed and much better.

Day 4 saw us treating children suffering from cancer along with their mothers at the Muhimbili Centre. It was heart wrenching to see the children (some as young as 5 years) suffering from different cancers … stomach, neck, gum, nose, spine, throat ……… They of course took a lot of healing, and understandably, so did their mothers! My heart went out these parents who bravely bore this burden with a smiling face! They had no complaints, even when we asked them where they were hurting. Two videos (in Kiswahili) follow below of a parent who received Reiki and of Edith the lovely lady who manages the centre.

Day 5 We had the opportunity of giving Reiki treatments to polio victims who had survived polio but were disabled and to other disabled adults. These people were employed by Wonder Workshop. They were very talented individuals who poured their creativity into the beautiful metal sculptures they made at the centre.

They very willingly took the Reiki treatments, reporting feeling ‘very good’ after. And it showed quite clearly on their faces which had glowing smiles at the end.

I would like to mention one lady that I treated. I had finished giving Reiki to her head, chest, back, abdomen, arms, and was continuing with my hands on her leg, when she quietly took one of my hands and equally quietly placed it on her heart chakra, and even more quietly whispered, ‘iko na mgonjwa hapa’ (‘I am sick here). I was taken aback, and along with the Reiki, I felt a gush of Love pour from my Heart Chakra to her Heart Chakra which continued for nearly 10 minutes! I was so privileged to touch another human being this way!

Day 6 Booked Reiki treatments were given to people, some of whom registered for the training the next day

Day 7 and 8 we conducted a Reiki Level 1 Training camp

Fourteen eager souls came to learn Reiki. Although they all lived in Tanzania, they came from mixed backgrounds from different corners of the globe … Portuguese, Polish, Brazilian, American, Norwegian, English, Italian, Dutch, South African, Welsh, Chinese, American, Caribbean, German, Kenyan and Tanzanian!

They walked away with the gift of Reiki which they pledged to use to achieve balance in their lives as well as to heal themselves and others of their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual ailments.

LHSG extends it gratitude to Ayesha Samji for her generosity in inviting us, and for planning the schedule. We are also very grateful to Barbara Fischer, the manager of Mukti for executing the program to perfection, and looking after us in so many little ways. A big thank you also goes out to Grace and Ezra who took us to the different places for the Seva and to Abdallah our driver who drove us everywhere!

Thank you also to Ridhi Shah for joining us for the Reiki training.

And finally, my gratitude and a big hug to Anuradha Nath for accompanying me on this seva trip. Without her, we would not have achieved all that we did!
