Reiki Seva and Yoga!

A Talk on Reiki, Reiki treatments for the public, and Yoga in the open air! This was the menu on the cards for Lotus Healing Seva Kenya group on International Yoga Day 21st June 2015.

LHSG Sevaks Tejal, Vaishali, Mamta, Yatinder, Lata, Monica, Grace, Pratima and Kamal were at the Nairobi University Grounds bright and early at 8.15 am, all ready to do their seva.

We were given desk space in a tent to be shared with other philanthropist organizations. Lata and Grace started giving Reiki to two ladies, but within minutes we had more than 6 people lining up for the free healing and Monica and Pratima joined in the healing of the public. The crowd in our corner of the tent grew and grew, creating a bottle neck in the flow of the public. The organizers then came over to us and asked us to shift across the field where they gave an entire tent to LHSG!

In the meantime, Kamal gave an introductory talk on Reiki to an audience of approximately 100 people in another tent. With Tejal and Vaishali demonstrating, the audience placed their hands on the chakras on their body. The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of Reiki were expounded upon. Then Tejal and Vaishali demonstrated on two ladies in the audience how a Reiki treatment is given. And even in the short couple of minutes that Tejal placed her hands on the lady’s chakras, she reported feeling calm and in a meditative state and joyful and at peace! Such is the power of the Reiki that Tejal channelled!

Going back to the Reiki healing tent, the queues continued right up to 10.45. In the 2 hours we gave Reiki mini treatments to more than 120 people! And when we were asked to stop and proceed on to the field for Yoga, we had to leave many disappointed people in the queue which had only grown bigger in the 2 hours!

We then set out onto the field and took part in the wonderful Yoga session for the next hour.

A big thank you to Tejal who promoted Reiki and Lotus Healing Seva Group to Mayur Shir and the organizers of the International Yoga Day and to Mayur Shir for having included us in the events.

Many many thanks go to Monica Gokaldas for taking out the photos and videos.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

By Monica Gokaldas

Being part of an International Event is a great achievement in itself.

I am glad I along with my colleagues at Lotus Healing Seva Group was able to participate in the event held in Nairobi, Kenya by Hindu Swayamsevak Sangha under the umbrella of Hindu Council of Kenya.

The event that was scheduled to commence at 9am on the morning of 21st June’15 at the vast expanse on the fields of The University of Nairobi Campus began very much in time and we could see huge queues of people waiting for the gates to be opened as early as 8am when our team from LHSG arrived there.

As suggested by Kamal, we (LHSG) did not wait to register ourselves as our names had already been given to the organizing committee. By the time Mamta and Kamal organized for the presentation, Lata, Grace, Pratima and I had already begun with giving reiki healings as early as 8.30 am. It was amazing to see the willingness in people wanting to experience Reiki healings. To begin with our group was put up with a tent shared by some other organizations but looking at the crowds gathered for Reiki, we were then placed in a more spacious tent all by ourselves to enable us conduct the Healing Samplers on the curious crowds.

Our Guru Kamal gave a presentation to a very inquisitive and attentive crowd in the presentation area. During the short interval of the presentation, she explained the basics ref what is Reiki and its healing aspects. The audience was very receptive

And they placed their hands on various Reiki positions as being demonstrated by Tejal and Vaishali.

Meanwhile the rest of the group members present continued with the healing “samplers” to the people who had queued up. Once the presentation was over, Kamal herself joined all of us and at any given time we had nine healers and nine healees in a continuous Reiki mode. The queue was getting longer and longer outside our tent and it was very heartening to see this “Hunger for Reiki” among people.

Later in the morning, all tents had to pack up and each and every person present was expected to be at the lawns where Mass Yoga Session took place. We all participated in the Yoga as well and I was full of gratitude for the day so well spent. Since it was a multiple of occasions on this day 21-06-15 being celebrated as Father’s Day, Yoga Day, World Music Day, Summer Solstice Day as well as World T-shirt Day I am glad I got this lovely opportunity of doing the Seva and celebrating in a way taught by Kamal.

Wonderful to see limitless children sending healing to their grandmothers. They must feel so special to be able to help. Grandmas are always looking after these children and feeding them.
