In keeping with our mission of spreading the knowledge of Reiki by training one and all in the use of this gentle healing energy, Lotus Healing Seva Kenya Group visited the Sai Seva School in the Kawangare slums of Nairobi for the second time this year. The purpose was to take the 62 children and teachers that had completed Reiki level 1 earlier this year to the next level Reiki 2 and to train 5 adults (teachers and the school chef) to Reiki level 1. this was done with teh kind permission of teh school patrons Bubbles Sian and Heena Shah.
As right as rain (and I mean it literally) the weather displayed its usual pattern of the season …. Heavy downpours from the day before continued on the day itself, Thursday 19th May 2016. The deluge was enough to consider calling off the event …. But defeat does not figure in LHSG’s vocabulary, so armed with our rain shoes and rain coats and umbrellas we proceeded by car to our destination, walked the muddy, slippery slopes to the school, to the children awaiting our arrival eagerly. One look at their excited faces and we knew we had made the right decision to proceed with the camp!
I had 29 young children and 2 teachers in my group. They had been faithfully practicing Reiki on themselves, their parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, neighbours with positive results. They took to the Level 2 training like a fish to water, learning the Reiki symbols with alacrity! After the attunement they did the self-healing and distant healing for people, situations, relationships, future and past events and group healing for the Earth. And so it is that 62 new Reiki level 2 healers were created that day!
There was a sumptuous lunch of Vegetable burgers, Kenyan chappati and milk and they were given fruit smoothies and cakes donated by LHSG member Lata to take home.
Sevaks Neena Gupta and Pratima Dutt assisted me in training my group. Sevak Sheela Shah, assisted by Sevaks Sriniddhi Rao and Anuradha Nath trained another group of 31 children and teachers to Reiki Level 2, while Sevak Punita Acharya taught Reiki level 1 to the 5 teachers and school chef. Please read their accounts and do watch the pictures and videos that follow.

The Reiki I camp at the Sai school in Kawangare a couple of months back was an exceptionally beautiful experience that, I was looking forward to conduct the follow up Reiki II camp at this wonderful school. And I wasn’t disappointed. The very wet rainny Thursday morning with flooded roads and slow heavy traffic did little to hinder our spirits. In spite of everything, we arrived at the school on time, to find the children eagerly waiting for us. We had 62 children, including teachers for Reiki ll and 7 adults for Reiki l. With Kamalji’s guidance, we quickly sorted ourselves and started. Punita, on her own, conducted the Reiki l group, Kamalji with Neena and Pratima conducted one Reiki ll group while I with Anuradha and Nidhi conducted the other Reiki ll group.
Like clockwork, everything was going smoothly and I found myself actually enjoying the cool wet weather. As the children were about to be awoken from their “attuned” slumber, I noticed one boy rather restless and fidgety. Thinking he might need to use the facilities, I went ahead and aroused everyone awake. I quickly realized that Adrian, the restless boy, wasn’t in need of the facilities but was actually in pain. Something was wrong with his right eye and he was crying in pain. One of the teachers stepped in and took him out of the class to see what was the problem. As soon as they left, I guided the whole group to send Adrian some Reiki. In about 10 mins, Adrian returned, completely dry eyed with a big smile. He seemed completely healed and joined us as if nothing had happened. On inquiring, Adrian confirmed that he was totally fine. And for the rest of time he was pain free and participated happily with the rest of the children. The power of Reiki.
When we resumed after lunch, I made sure at every junction, to bring Adrian’s speedy recovery as the prime proof of the power of symbols, distant healing and group healing. What more could I have asked for. The rest of the session was completed without any incidents.
The children were happy and excited to be able to now practice their new found skill.
My humble gratitude to Reiki for being instrumental in making this whole seva experience so satisfying. Last but not least, thank you my Lotus family for everything that you do. ????????

The month of May is supposed to have rain in moderation, but this year has been an exception. It has been raining heavily through-out. For some reason this didn’t effect the 80 children and adults of the Sai Sewa School in Kawangware, nor did it effect the Lotus Healing Sewa Group Sewaks.
I was teaching level 1 reiki for the second time and this was a different experience. I had 5 teachers who were very keen to learn Reiki.
I started by asking if they knew anything about Reiki and one of the teachers told me how he had had a wonderful experience with it. He said he had a terrible headache and the teacher who had previously done reiki level 1 came to his rescue and gave him healing just before the last lesson. He went home, had dinner, and went to sleep – without taking any medication. He woke up in the morning
(had already forgotten that he had had a headache the previous day) and at 10am he bumped into the teacher who had given him reiki and he asked if it had made a difference? The teacher said he was totally fine and had actually forgotten about the headache.
As the day progressed the questions they asked had pleasantly surprised me. One teacher asked if it was ok to give Reiki to his pregnant wife? I replied saying that yes of course, it will be very good for the baby as he will be more calmer and it will also help the mum.
I was asked can it help my diabetes and blood pressure? My reply was yes, provided you gave yourself healing everyday. I was promised a feed back after a month. My hopes are raised and am waiting eagerly to hear from her.
I feel blessed of having had this opportunity to teach and make a difference in people’s lives.
Gratitude! Gratitude! Gratitude…..

Empowering children, spreading knowledge,reaching out
We, Kenyans need that the most.
This is the best way to spread good will, pluralism, unity and peace. These are the people
Who will be reluctant to accept unrest. Now they have a tool of reiki. They can send out reiki for good will in this beautiful country and it will be a shield and defender spreading justice in our borders. Bravo LHSG sevaks and leader.
Beautiful stories from the students and faculty. Thank you for going even in the rain … I can hear it falling in the videos:)
