LHSG Reaches Out Once Again!

Lotus Healing Seva Group Kenya members got an opportunity to take part in the Brahma Kumaris Energy of Wings Expo at Sarit Centre, Nairobi, from 30^th June till 3^rd July.

Our Stand had chunnis (scarves) of the Chakra Colours draping the walls, a LHSG table cloth adorned the table and our standee banner stood on the side. A simple and humble decoration, which reflected quite correctly the LHSG’s character. But that is not to say we were insignificant. On the contrary, as the accounts of our members below will show, we were the most popular and sought after stand in the entire exhibition hall!

True to our mission of promoting the awareness of Reiki, all visitors were given a short talk on our Seva activities over the past 11 years, our projects in different parts of Kenya, and the workshops and courses we offer. And then, we offered FREE Reiki treatments to one and all. Not only did each recipient feel good after the treatment, they came back for more and more Reiki over the four days, and they spread the word with their friends and family and neighbours who also came to experience the gentle healing effect of Reiki. We were visited by people from Kenya, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, India and other countries. A number of them registered for Reiki training courses. The patients on chairs, receiving healing, were so many, that spilling over from the LHSG stand into the corridor became a common sight at the exhibition.

Over the 4 days we gave about 240 treatments to 214 people .. men, women, children … the youngest being a 5 year old girl and the oldest being an 84 year old woman. The steady stream of patients meant no time for a break. Indeed, we had to have our parotthas (a kind of chappati) and tea, one at time, quietly, in a corner of the stand, while the Reiki treatments continued. The LHSG Sevaks that did this seva were Lata, Rashmeen, Cooky, Punita, Laveena, Mamta, Neena, Pratima, Monica, Sheela, Dee, Priya, Anuradha, Bubbles, Karima and myself, Kamal … while Bindi, Grace, Gauri, Tejal and Yatinder pitched in for a few hours.

Special Commendation goes to our LHS(Y)G Youth Member Harleen who did a sterling job. She put in over 10 hours of seva with hardly any time for breaks … and to our youngest LHS(Y)G youth member Veer (12 years) who very willingly gave Reiki to a few men for a couple of hours. And a big Kudos to our dear Pratima who did this seva non-stop over all the 4 days!

This was a unique opportunity to display our Product –Reiki. It might sound strange to write of Reiki as our product but at an expo where various organizations were displaying their products/ methods, LHSG was promoting Reiki in our own way.

I reached The  Exhibition Hall at Sarit Centre  by 9am on Thursday, 30th June to be in good enough time for the opening ceremony. Soon I was joined by Punita and Lata. As we began preparing our stall, to our surprise there were people asking us about Reiki and whether we could give healing to them. We had to politely request them to wait till the expo was officially declared open.

The Opening Ceremony conducted in the main Hall was a simple affair where the dignitaries were invited to light up the candles followed by some speeches. Once we reached back to  our stall we began giving Reiki to those who were interested. Besides the visitors we had a few Brahma Kumari brothers and sisters and some dignitaries who sat through the healing by us. Mr. Nitin Malde, chairman of the Hindu Council of Kenya came for healing not knowing much about Reiki. When I asked him about how he felt after the session his reaction was,  “This feels very good. How did you do this? Did you go through some training?” This element of  surprise was amusing but understandable as he has known me as a business woman and community builder so the energy of Reiki was a unique experience for him.

Impressed by the effects of Reiki he assured me of the Hindu Council organizing a mass Reiki Healing Event for the elderly of the society. I had planned to be there till noon but due to the demand by people waiting I continued till 1.40 pm. Meanwhile I was wondering if I could return again to experience what other stalls had to offer.

I returned again on Friday, 1st July for a short time and felt great to see a heavy traffic of healees and healers at our stall. I joined  hands with my colleagues and doing this selfless seva was very satisfying. Saturday and Sunday were very special as we had huge numbers of people who came to receive the Reiki Healing. I was joined by my daughter Harleen and we were together with other ladies from the group.

As I came in for seva earlier than my scheduled time on Saturday, I found our stall very full and there was literally no space left to take another person for Reiki. I decided to walk around to other stalls when I met BK Sister Grace from Ghana. She mentioned that she had been seeing our stall to be very busy yet very simple and had been wanting to get some Reiki done but her responsibility of attending to her own stall did not permit her to visit us. Hence, I decided to give her Reiki at her own stall. She hadn’t told me about any health issues saying she was fine. As I gave her healing I realized that she needed a lot of healing and later she too told me that she at times had certain problems and thoroughly enjoyed the healing. Sister Grace has been visited by several Reiki practitioners at the BK Centre in Accra who have given her Reiki but she found it very effective this time and to,d me that my heart must be full of compassion and pure energies. It made me feel very good and grateful to my Guru who has trained me so.

I am pleased to further add that while giving Reiki to Sister Grace we got talking about Forgiveness and how it helps people move on with life and of our workshops as LHSG. She invited me to come to Ghana and conduct a Ho’opono pono workshop at the BK centre there.

Despite being extremely busy, I felt immense gratitude and an elated feeling giving non stop healing to people one after the other. The energies certainly enhance the experience when one is prepared to do the Seva. Each time someone expressed their happiness and relief after the healing received, it renewed our energies and faith.

Though some of us had the opportunity to give Reiki on all four days and missed out on rest of the expo stalls, yet we were overjoyed to see some people return to us for repeated sessions. We managed touching about 214 people with Reiki among them nearly over 60% who experienced it for the first time. I can proudly say that our stall was the busiest stall in the Expo throughout the period of 4 days.

It would be only fair to mention a few people for their exemplary seva during the expo. Pratima Dutt was amazing at staying put for continuous four days. She did seva with a very compassionate heart, forgetting her own health issues. She continued for hours without a break, was particular about selling the books and attending to account of books and people.

Our Guru Kamal Tolia despite not having fully recovered from the injuries sustained by a fall last month continued to be an inspiration as she too forgot about her own pains as she did the seva. During this seva period she was equally concerned about the group members and ensured we took a forced short break to have some tea and a quick bite and brought eatables and tea for us.

It was remarkable to see many LHSG members putting in extra time besides the one on the Rota to facilitate healing as many as we could. My gratitude to Ms. Jyoti Shah who was the force behind us putting up the stall for four days. My gratitude to all those who trusted us enough to give us the opportunity to do Reiki upon them. My gratitude to my daughter Harleen who believes in this selfless seva and opted to be part of the seva on Saturday and Sunday (having reached Nairobi on Friday after a long flight) instead of going out for fun with her siblings. My gratitude to the Seva itself which uplifted me to the core during my emotionally low period and I carried along not even once thinking about or sensing any aches and pains.

I had been overseas and soon after coming back, got busy with a family wedding. Hence, didn’t get the chance to enroll myself for the seva at the expo. While it was going on, something prompted me to contact Kamalji to accomodate me in the rota on Saturday. And there I was. Sooooo grateful for the experience .I was amazed at our LHSG members’ enthusiastic approach  to reach out to as many people as possible and give them the taste of Reiki healing magic. Not a single individual who visited the expo bypassed our stall. Infact,they eagerly awaited their turn to receive healing. A very gratifying experience. I wish for more such opportunities in the future????

Making our Seva souls as comfortable as possible is the best possible thing we can do…here’s why I feel that way…an elderly lady probably 65 ish…waddled into the stand and plonked herself on a chair…she made herself comfortable and just waited. I asked her if she was ok…she rattled off in broken English…yesterday you gave me here and here ( pointing to her hip and thigh area ) much better…today i want here and here ( pointing to calf and ankle ) it is very painful …Pratima and I started…there was a point where we had to keep her straight as she was in utopia…i think…after we finished she wriggled her ankles…smiled…said thank you and off she went…

To start with I didn’t make a commitment to volunteer at the expo but since I wanted to do my bit however I could, I tried to be there.

Twice I went there on pure whim that I have to be there in spite of what I left behind undone. The first time I went there to just give but as always I just gained .. Feeling of gratitude.. I managed to give Reiki to only 6 people 5 of them wanted to come because they were sent by one of BK sisters or a friend, one of them was skeptic brought by a friend .. But all experienced it’s power and went smiling and grateful.

The second time I went was with my son Veer. So it was more special for me as he volunteered to do sewa without any prompting from me. And he came back with wonderful feedback from people he gave Reiki to and expressed his willingness to be a part of such an event again in future.

At our stall, I experienced willingness or rather eagerness to give Reiki and eagerness to receive Reiki.. People came looking for our stall to receive Reiki.. Wonderful team work.. Wonderful spirit..

The expo was just beyond words. Something I experienced for the first time and I guess should become an annual event.

Thank you to the universe, to Reiki, to Kamal Aunty, to Jyoti Ben, to my fellow soul sisters and to the organizers for this wonderful opportunity.

The Energy of Wings Expo seva was an exceptionally beautiful experience.

** Beautiful because Reiki touched a nerve …. The feel Good nerve….. In every individual who received healing that so many came back for repeat sessions.

** Beautiful because other energy healers were there multiple times to receive healing….. Affirmation that Reiki is powerful and works in all levels.

** Beautiful because through Reiki the incredible team work that our Lotus group has was strengthen to even higher heights.

** Beautiful because Reiki was able to restore our faith and hope in people to connect with their inner magic somehow.

My deepest gratitude Kamalji for being the pivotal force in getting this beautiful attitude of seva going in my life. ????????????

I was there at the opening ceremony and soon after it finished  we went to our stalls and all the distinguished guests followed, excited to see each and every stall.

Something interesting I found, call it the beautiful vibrations, energies, or just our LHSG group……everyone stopped at our stall, showing a keen interest in what Reiki and LHSG was all about.

2 ladies came and said we would like to experience Reiki, so I welcomed them in. I started with the first lady ( who fell asleep as I was half way through) when I was done I woke her up. She said that that morning she had woken up with a terrible headache and dizziness and was debating whether or not she should come for this exhibition. Her friend had convinced her to go because she knew that the BK did meditation, and this would help her tremendously. To her surprise she found that with Reiki her headache and dizziness had gone completely she walked away smiling and willing to learn Reiki!

I was missing my mom today morning so decided that the best way to uplift my spirit would be sewa so l left early for my duty and it certainly did!

It was a busy and fulfilling day and left me feeling on top of the world!

Our stall was the “giving “stall ! People were very happy with the Reiki sessions and  brought back their family members to experience Reiki too!

I am Kamalji, my deepest gratitude to LHSG, you and Jyotiben for getting this beautiful opportunity to do the lovely seva at the Expo. First of all our stall was the most vibrant one the energy was very. All people who were very receptive. Some came repeatedly because they were feeling so good after each session. Some brought their family members. Most of the people were feeling very relaxed, calm and less pain after the healing. I am really blessed to be a part of this group. May Reiki give us more and more opportunity to this kind of seva.

The energy of wings spread so wide,

Akin to the waters rising with a tide.

 

LHSG conducted themselves in beauty,

In performing with pleasure their duty.

 

With hands of healing touching hearts,

Enhancing the karma on  their seva charts.

 

A sheer delight it happened to be,

Joining hand in hand all you and me.

 

Sipping Kamal’s refreshing cups of tea,

And Mamta’s samosas and coffee.

 

No care there was for any self pain,

As each healee found some reiki gain.

 

The surprise element in their expression,

With reiki they and us both got satisfaction .

 

The young came along with the old,

We provided reiki warmth in the cold.

 

Some came to try and test us out,

And returned again for another bout.

 

Some ignorance and myth was discarded,

As first hand knowledge of reiki imparted.

 

Some wish to learn and serve others,

Thus spreading this energy to brothers.

 

The BK folk too were welcomed here,

With their meditative spirit of care.

 

The sisters, mothers and children came,

Requesting for healing, they gave their name.

 

Grateful we are at this opportunity,

The rush made us feel like some celebrity.
