As part of our ongoing anniversary celebrations, the Kenya Group went on 13th November to a home for the disabled called RUAI Compassionate Hands Home, in a place called Ruai, just outside of Nairobi
The place is run by Anne Njeri, who herself was a disabled child. With the kind help from a well wisher, Anne was operated many times, went to school, and then to university to complete a degree in Mass Communications. In 2009, she started the home for disabled children. What a hero Anne is! She could have chosen to lead a life of comfort and ease by getting a job and having a family. She chose instead to give back to society by rescuing the little babies that had been abandoned in the streets, in dust bins, in toilets, and giving them a second chance at life! Lotus Healing Seva Group salutes Anne’s spirit and is humbled by her pure love and compassion for the little charges in her care.
Lotus Healing Seva Group Kenya members Shariffa, Mamta, Nina, Sheela, Shalini, Priya, Jean, Punita, Kamal, Pratima, joined by Manisha of Amara trust, went with children’s diapers, dry food rations, toys, exercise books, building blocks, games and magazines and lots of trees to plant in their compound.
Shariffa, Kamal and Manisha proceeded with the planting of the trees the spiritual way using Reiki, while the rest went on to bless the 52 little children with Reiki.
Please read the accounts of some of the members below …..

Shariffa ……
The children in the centre are abandoned …. Most are deaf and dumb and some are blind.
Anne, herself handicapped, crawled for years until a good Samaritan picked her up and took her to school. Once educated, Anne strugged in Korongocho slums before arriving in Ruai. Here she rents a 20,000/- per month premises.
The abandoned children left here, age two to nine and some beyond live here.
They have shelter, food. There are cows for milk, quails and hens for eggs.
Physiotherapists come and help. Medical help and medicine come from Fics via Dr. Parag Patel
The Lotus Healing Seva Group reached out to give them permanent sustainable solutions. First Reiki was given to Anne herself. Since she found great relief, comfort, and well being, A group of LHSG went to Ruai and gave healing to all the children.
Now the ten trainers will receive Reiki training which will change the lives of the Reiki practitioners and the children under their care.
We planted trees…the Reiki way. Blessing the earth, the water and the tree. The trees were Causerinas, zamabarau, avacados, intersepersed with colorful durantas.
Forever the children will be surrounded by plants to give beauty and energy.
We carried with us food, pampers, toys magazines. Brought back the happiness and the smiles of the 52 children we met.
Future plans are to put in gutters and a tank to harvest rain water, to provide Water for the children, the cows, for cooking and for our trees and to separate the cooking area with a mesh to keep the flies out of the food.
Mamta ……
Ruai Seva was yet another beautiful opportunity! I feel blessed to have been a part of it! The children were so sweet and love was just pouring from our hearts! I felt that they were very brave divine souls! Though physically going through a lot of challenges their faces reflected peace and joy within! One little boy just kept giggling, shaking hands with us- again and again. His laugh was totally infectious and brought smiles to our faces!
We salute Anne for all her efforts to look after these children and to make them independent!
Thank you Shariffaji for planning, Kamalji for guidance and the universe for this opportunity!
Love n light!
Nuri ……
Going open-minded, without a preliminary, I was struck by the enormous heartbreak I felt at the unfairness life was offering these young children at Ruai!!
Small, helpless, disabled, broken, blind, misfits of the real world, hurdled together in a space smaller than a standard room, lay 52 infants and children with 8 God Angel care-givers!!
How did they see us holding out our palms to give them love and healing – some banging their tiny heads as they lay in a small pan to keep them from falling, others blind but wanting to touch and feel another human being, others just staring in fear and awe, others smiling to acknowledge the strangers? Did they feel our good intentions?? Did our smiles assure them that they were going to be alright even after we left them in a couple of hours??
The faces, the sadness is hard to forget but I pray that a miracle that happened to one (who is now helping 52) will happen to these children too so that 52 x 52 will never be unending!!
Love, and Hurrah for Light Workers & their Teachers to do the Seva that we are blessed to share with so so many and in so many different ways!!
Sheela …..
The Ruai home was an eye opener to me once again about how blessed we are of our health, our loved ones in our lives, our homes …..basically about everything we take for granted.
The children and their carers are an inspiration to all of us.
Ann, who started this home, is a pillar of light that I pray will only shine brighter and brighter for all those she touches.
I felt very humbled giving Reiki to the children and carers and immensely grateful for the opportunity.
Thank you Shariffaji for organizing this seva.
Love and Light.

Yes indeed we are blessed that Lotus Healing Seva Group enabled us to,reach out. To leave the tool behind for them to access the universal energy always.
