Reiki For The Voiceless Ones

Nairobi has an Animal Orphanage adjacent to its National Park. Here baby wild animals that have been orphaned due to poaching (mostly) and parents’ deaths are brought by the Wild Life Rangers. In this home they are looked after, fed and nourished.

One would hope that when these animals grow into adulthood, they would fit back in the wild from where they came. But A few years ago, an experiment to integrate four grown up lionesses into the wild failed … two were killed and the remaining two returned to the orphanage, the only safe home they knew. So unfortunately, even after they are all grown up, they cannot be released into the wild as they do not have survival skills or hunting skills anymore and besides, they are too used to humans. So sadly, they spend the rest of their lives in these enclosures . .

To give Reiki to these sweet little voiceless ones, Lotus Healing Seva Group went to the Orphanage on 14th March 2017.  Some of us adopted the very new baby animals, a lesser Kudu (antelope), a cheetah and a leopard. This involves paying a small amount for their upkeep. These 3 animals and others like them had been rescued when they were less than 2 months old .. . They couldn’t even open their eyes then . .. in the pictures they are about 4 – 6 months old . .

As we moved from one fenced enclosure to another, we blessed the animals with Reiki … The smaller cats like cheetahs and leopards were followed by the bigger cats, the lions and lionesses, then came a buffalo, crocodile, guinea fowls, warthog and even mongooses! The little monkeys entertained us with their quick grabbing of peanuts ….

We finished this outing with a picnic lunch, after which we sent Reiki energy to all wild animals (endangered or not) in the adjacent Nairobi National Park and in all National Parks and wild spaces in the world!

The next day, we were given some very gladdening news from ranger Martha Mukami and the orphanage helpers Ronald and Nairobi. The orphaned animals are fed every afternoon. We were told that they never finish their afternoon meal. But on 14th March, after our Reiki healing for them, they all finished ALL of their food, AND, they were very calm all day! Reiki wins again!

Animal Orphanage Visit 14th March 2017

Reiki welcomed by orphaned animals

The warm sun for once did not appear so hot as our hearts were glowing with the warmth of Reiki filled love towards the animals that we met at the Animal Orphanage in Nairobi. Excitement was obvious on all our faces on the 14th day of March 2017.

Thanks to Shariffa Keshavjee who had developed contact with Martha at the Animal Orphanage early this year as she led us through to the rangers as well as the offices where we selected our options for adoption of a Cheetah cub, a Leopard cub and a Lesser Kudu Kid.

We started off by first meeting the Kudu Kid. Kamal chose to adopt her under her granddaughter Seren’s name and I chose to adopt her under my niece Sadhavi’s name.  At first she shied away but then as we were handed over a milk bottle she allowed us to feed us while we patted her with our healing hands.

We then met a Cheetah cub who was adopted by Kamal, Sheela, and myself. We were allowed to hold her in our hands. It was like a dream come true for me as I had always wanted to pat a Cheetah. I got much more, holding her and patting as well while rest of the group members gave healing to her.

After that we moved to the enclosure with a Leopard cub and two Cheetah cubs who were very playful and full of life. Our adopted Leopard cub was a shy one and she was very quiet throughout. We gave healing and proceeded towards various other animals one by one. Some of the lions took more healing than others and just calmed down to receive the healing energy. It was an amazing experience.

My heart is filled with gratitude at such a blessed opportunity that through this lovely gift of Reiki Energy we crossed barriers of speciesism and speech and communicated with various animals through the energy field.

What an awesome day we had today. It had been a long time since I was at the animal orphanage and today’s visit was a reminder of the animals in our “back yard”!! Giving healing to all the animals felt so good that it confirmed what a brilliant seva this was. Thank you Shariffaji for instigating it. My first experience in holding and patting a cheetah and am grateful that I could also give healing at the same time. What a cutie Cheeto is with her big beautiful eyes. The other animals were equally lovely. They took healing so quickly even though they are well taken care. Thank you Mamta and Monica for all the videos and pictures????????. They give me a warm fuzzy feeling of joy and love. Thank you to the rest of my Lotus sisters for the yummy nourishment and wonderful company….for our happiness was multiplied because we shared this experience. Last but not least, we sent healing to all the animals in all national parks/world for various reasons. I cannot emphasize enough how empowering Reiki is and thankful for opportunities like today. Yes, what an awesome day.

The day started off really well. Braved the traffic and managed to reach our destination well in time. The nature was very kind. It was hot but bearable. We actually experienced the calming effect of reiki on the animals. After treating ourselves to sumptuous food ended up giving reiki to all the animals in the their natural habitat. A day to remember. Feel truly blessed for this wonderful opportunity to do seva.

It was a seva filled day dedicated to our furry and feathery friends from the animal kingdom.

All the animals were very receptive to the healing energies. The lions grew calmer, the monkeys became playful and the birds were very approachable.

I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to heal our beautiful and diverse wildlife throughout Kenya and all over the world.

    Cheeto the Cheetah
    The Story

Cheeto the Cheetah was a dear little soul
The mum was hunted down leaving her alone
Out came the rangers she was no more forlorn
Rescued little Cheeto from any more harm
Cheeto was rescued once and for all

Cheeto came from North Easter Wajir County
Richard Kanjwony found her, what a bounty
Two weeks old Cheeto wrapped up and warm
Flew to Wilson Airport away from the storm
Cheeto was rescued and now was in form

Once in Nairobi Animal care took over
Edwards expert care took Cheeto over
Her eyes were not open and she was bottle fed
But she was so happy and not at all sad
Vaccine was given to keep her well
Cheeto was rescued once and for all

Soon Cheeto with all the love and care
The Animal Orphanage and Mama Nurturing care
Opened her eyes and began to play
Furry toys dangled for her to see and flay
Cheeto was rescued once and for all

One sunny day Cheeto was adopted and named
For Iman for her birthday to celebrate
What a delight to know that soon she would move
Out into the open where other cheetahs roam
Cheeto was rescued one and for all

Now that we know that Cheeto is loved
We feel so grateful that none go uncared
With the team at the Orphanage all are tamed
Cheetahs you know are very handsome cats
Cheeto the Cheetah is rescued once ready for pats

Cheeto can lick herself clean and fresh
Her milk comes to her in a bottle all fresh
Soon she will move to the open the air so fresh
For all visitors to see and know she is safe
Cheeto is rescued we are so glad she is safe.
