For nearly 10 years Lotus Healing Seva Group has been doing Reiki training sevas. Our intention to empower people with the beautiful, balancing energy of Reiki has been circulating in the ethers for many years! And it has been received, approved, and translated into seva opportunities galore!
We are indeed very grateful to the Universe for its benevolence. On 2nd August 2017, Lotus Healing Seva Group Kenya carried out its 84th Reiki training camp on the lovely peaceful grounds of Amrita School in Athi River town, an hour’s drive out of Nairobi. The school caters to the children of poor and destitute families in the villages surrounding the school.
Fifty one eager faces received us in their spacious dining area, ready to receive the gift of Reiki, which we lovingly gave to them over the next 5 hours. The new learners were children and teachers of the school, as well as Priti Shah, the proprietor and administrator of the school. Priti herself does voluntary work at the school. She has been instrumental in its progress from a one classroom project to an 8 classroom school!
The camp was conducted by me, Kamal Tolia. I was assisted by Pratima Dutt, Monica Gokaldas, and Neha Shah. We are very grateful to Priti Shah for affording us the opportunity to share our love and light with these special souls and empowering them to bring balance and harmony in their lives and in that of others.
Please read the reports of the other sevaks and do see the pictures and watch the video that say it all ….

On the cold morning of Wednesday August 2, 2017 we got ready early to leave home in good enough time to reach Kamal’s residence by 8.45am. Neha Shah, Pratima Dutt and I waited with Kamal for Priti Shah of Amrita School who gave us a ride in her car to visit the school situated near Athi River. Nearly an hour’s drive took us to the huge spacious venue where we were met with students and teachers of the school.
It was Holiday time and there were students from grade 6, 7 and 8 waiting for us to teach them the Gift of Reiki. We quickly set up the airy hall facing the kitchen with chairs and tables and organized ourselves within ten minutes. The teaching of Reiki 1 was conducted by Kamal Tolia herself while the rest of us were helping out. Priti Shah herself also learnt the Reiki along with some teachers who sat behind the students adding up to 51 people.
The children were attentive but not very interactive. That made me realize that they might not be having too much interaction with outsiders although they were comfortable with Priti who visits them nearly thrice a week at times. As the school is run under the Mata Amritanandamayi Math Charitable Trust, the children were well versed with chanting the Holy mantra of “OM” which they did before they commenced on learning.
Owing to the cold weather we decided not to do the attunement with the attunees lying on the cold floor or tables, so instead they remained seated on their chairs. This flexibility with Reiki of having no hard and fast restrictive rules adds further charm to this beautiful art of healing. During attunement the children were quite still and sparing one or two, rest of them had their eyes shut and some even dozed off to this relaxing empowerment.
As they practiced the self healing after the attunement, we observed that they were doing it pretty well although some of them were fidgety in the beginning. The students had such good healing vibrations that they knew when to move on to another chakra and when to continue on the same chakra despite watching others move on.
During lunch break they were served a freshly cooked hot meal of rice, lentils, and vegetables along with Mandazi. The meal was sponsored by Lata Kanji of LHSG Kenya. group. We sevaks had our lunch along with the teachers and Priti before getting back to teaching them giving reiki to others. After the partner healing the new healers received their manual sheets as well as certificates and solemnly promised to continue practicing Reiki upon themselves and others around them.

Wooooooooow…
My big big Gratitude to Kamal aunty for giving me this opportunity of seva…
Thank you so much. ….. This was my first time to go for a Reiki camp…
As we started we introduced ourselves …. There were many kids and they were listening with eagerness. . They wanted to learn but were very shy to speak…
The teachers also enjoyed doing Reiki… When they had to do on others they enjoyed more… While doing Reiki for others, I just praised them a bit and they felt happier and they did the Reiki better, with more awareness ….
The energy level was so good n I was enjoying every bit of it…
Thank you….

The students are so cute. The video is beautiful – watching it, I feel as if I were there. Thank you to LHSG volunteers for your efforts at the camp, and to those who sponsored lunch.
